Supple Set for Loan Move
Supple Set for Loan Move

Boss Jim Magilton says he plans to send keeper Shane Supple out on loan during this transfer window. The 21-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, has appeared only once for the Blues this season, in the 4-1 Carling Cup victory over Leyton Orient.

Magilton told the club site: "Shane is a model pro. He trains hard and is a very good goalkeeper, but the lad wants to play games and at the moment he's not having that opportunity.

"We've had a chat and it's important that he stays sharp and keeps improving. And for that to happen, we need to look at getting him out on loan, perhaps for the rest of the season.

"He benefited from his time on loan at Falkirk last year and I know he's keen to get out there and play games, so we are seeing what we can arrange.

"Obviously, it would mean us bringing in another keeper on loan to cover Shane and we have been working on that as well."

An experienced keeper in the mould of Nick Colgan, who joined Town for six months a year ago as cover for Supple's spell at Falkirk, is the most likely recruit to act as cover for Richard Wright.

Town were recently linked with a permanent move for Stockport keeper Owain fôn Williams, while Sunderland, Manchester City, Blackburn, Tottenham, Sheffield United, Preston and Queens Park Rangers are also reportedly interested in the Wales U21 international.

Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Phil Scolari says Didier Drogba is likely to be included in the squad for Saturday's FA Cup tie against Town after being left out of recent matches: "Maybe for next week Didier is together with the squad for the game against Ipswich.”

Chelsea skipper John Terry is expected to be back in training today having injured his back during the warm-up against Stoke on Saturday.
