Rhodes Nets Hat-Trick for Brentford
Rhodes Nets Hat-Trick for Brentford

It was Jordan Rhodes's turn to be the on-loan Town striker scoring a hat-trick this week, as the 18-year-old notched his first senior treble for Brentford within the first half hour of their 3-1 defeat of Shrewsbury at the Prostar Stadium.

Matching Billy Clarke's efforts for Northampton a week ago, Rhodes netted the first in the second minute, chesting and then volleying past the keeper. The Town striker cut out a poor backpass in the 17th minute to add his second and then headed home his third in the 29th minute.

Rhodes has now scored four goals in three games in the first week of his month with the League Two Bees, who unsurprisingly have already said they are keen to keep him for longer.

Elsewhere, Clarke was in the Northampton side which lost 2-1 at home to Leicester but failed to add to last week's hat-trick.

Richard Naylor's Leeds lost 1-0 at Walsall, while Chris Casement and Wycombe beat Accrington 2-1 at Adams Park and Jaime Peters came on as a 73rd minute sub in Gillingham's 1-0 away win at Chester.

Dan Harding wasn't included in the Reading 16 which drew 0-0 with QPR, while Kurt Robinson's Rushden and Diamonds aren't in action until Sunday when they play Cambridge United at home.
