David Johnson's increasingly bizarre international career took a new turn at the weekend when Scotland manager Craig Brown tried to persuade the striker to become Scottish. Brown watched Johnson in the 4-1 home defeat against QPR and then met with the player and George Burley. The manager and the player were said to have got on well.

So far Johnson has racked up appearences for England B and Jamaica and has been included in the England U21 and Wales full squads. Last week he seemed set to play for Wales in their competitive game with Switzerland thereby committing his future to the Welsh. However, an injury prevented him from doing this and now Scotland seem the favourites to pin Johnson down.

If he does opt to play for Scotland he will be the first black player to play in the famous blue shirt and the first without a Scottish bloodline. The former Bury man was born in Kingston, Jamaica and his British passport means he is technically able to play for any of the home nations and Jamaica. Scotland joining the race means that all of the home countries have made overtures to Town's highest scorer with Northern Ireland's Lawrie McMenemy failing to interest Johnno to any degree last season.

If Scotland is where Johnson sees his international future he could line-up opposite former team-mate Kieron Dyer in the England-Scotland games next month.

Referee Paul Danson is refusing to take another look at Jim Magilton's sending off and Town are leaving the matter there. Magilton will serve a three-match ban.

Titus Bramble has set a target of six weeks for himself to be back in first team contention. Injuries have kept him out of the side for most of this season, but he made a comeback in the reserves last week.
