![]() Friday, 20th Mar 2009 15:13 Derek Bowden says he knows nothing of claims that former British Olympic Association chief executive Simon Clegg will join the Blues' management team in the summer. Town's chief executive says the club have no plans to bring someone to act as a figurehead. Asked whether there was any truth in the recent reports regarding Clegg, Bowden told TWTD: "Not as far as I'm aware.†"I don't know that the club needs a figurehead. David is much less of a figurehead now. We have an owner, we have a manager and we have a chief executive. I don't think it needs a token 'totem pole'. "David was extremely good as a figurehead for the club and I fulfil a different role in a different kind of way, but I don't think we necessarily have to have a prominent figurehead.†Bowden says plans by The Hospitality Group (THG) to offer hospitality opportunities at Town to US businesses could be lucrative for the club: "If THG can attract corporate custom from the US to games here then good on them. There will be some games in this league and many games in the Premier League which I could see being attractive to American supporters. "For those with affiliations to this part of the world or customers here or subsidiaries over here, I can see it being an opportunity. "One of the benefits of the group is that it has global reach and therefore if we c sell hospitality in the Far East or in North America for games at Ipswich, that's good.â€Â
