Lee: I Was Given No Choice
Lee: I Was Given No Choice

Former striker Alan Lee says he was given no choice but to leave the Blues for Crystal Palace at the start of the season. Lee recently joined Norwich on loan and will face his old club at Portman Road on Sunday.

Lee said: "I am not anybody's mug. I didn't want to leave, but I felt I did not have a choice.

"If you are not wanted it's best to get out of it. This is how football is, but I felt I did enough for Ipswich to deserve more.”

The Irish international says he'll have no problem celebrating if he scores against Town: "If I put the ball between two coats in the back yard I celebrate. You score a goal and it is the best feeling.

"People might look at my return to Portman Road giving me extra pleasure if I net, but it would be for my team-mates - and for our fans who pay their money.”

Lee signed for Crystal Palace for £600,000 plus top-ups in August, but a series of hamstring injuries limited his appearances for the Eagles and led to his move on loan.

Meanwhile, Jon Walters has revealed that he made a trip to watch the Canaries in action against Sheffield Wednesday recently: "It feels like I've joined the scouting staff!

"I was there to watch Richard Hinds, who I played with at Hull. I also went to school with his wife, so they're good friends of ours and came back to stay with us after the game.

"Sheffield Wednesday deserved to win and their performance offered some pointers to how we can gain revenge over Norwich for our defeat at Carrow Road.

"I've told the coaching staff what I saw and my opinions and if it helps us to get three points at the weekend I'll feel it was a job well done.”

Walters is considered a big doubt for Sunday's game after aggravating his ankle injury during Monday's match at Bristol City.
