Midfielder Liam Trotter has revealed that Town boss Roy Keane watched him in action on Friday as his loan club Scunthorpe overcame the MK Dons to reach Sunday's League One play-off final. Trotter is out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to hold talks with Keane regarding his future.

Trotter said: "I know Roy Keane was at the game on Friday night watching me and it is obviously down to Ipswich whether or not they want to offer me another contract or not.

"I just want to play football, if that is at Ipswich then great because they are my hometown club. But if not I am enjoying my time here at Scunthorpe, and if not here then hopefully I will have some other options.

"I am not looking any further than Wembley at the moment - it is not just about showing Roy Keane what I can do. It is to get this club up because I think they are one of the better clubs in this league and they deserve it."

Keane is likely to have been impressed with Trotter's performance against the Dons, playing a holding midfield role for the entire 120 minutes before calmly stroking in a penalty as his side won a shoot-out 7-6 to claim a place at Wembley.

The 20-year-old says he was happy playing an unfamiliar role: "I had a job to do, it's probably not my preference in terms of position because I prefer to be more of a box-to-box player.

"I was given a job to do though and I was pleased with the way that I did it."

Trotter has so far made five starts and eight sub appearances for the Iron, scoring one goal, and is likely to be in Nigel Adkins's side against Millwall at Wembley.
