Casement in Full Northern Ireland Squad

Released defender Chris Casement has been named in a 19-man Northern Ireland full squad for a friendly in Italy on June 6th.

Town skipper Gareth McAuley, who has a knee injury, is one of a number of senior players sidelined at present, leading to the squad's inexperienced look.

Amongst those named, only Sunderland's David Healy, Birmingham's Damien Johnson and Scunthorpe's Grant MacCann have more than a handful of caps with Casement one of 10 uncapped players in the squad for the game at the Arena Garibaldi in Pisa.

Casement was told his Town career is at an end a fortnight ago by new manager Roy Keane. The 21-year-old spent time on loan at Wycombe Wanderers during the second half of the season and Chairboys manager Peter Taylor has hinted that he may want to sign the Belfast-born right-back or central defender on a permanent basis.

Northern Ireland: Jonathan Tuffey (Partick Thistle), Alan Mannus (Linfield), Craig Cathcart (Manchester United), Chris Casement (Ipswich Town), Shane Duffy (Everton), Colin Coates (Crusaders), Ryan McGivern (Manchester City), Damien Johnson (Birmingham City), Michael O'Connor, Shane Ferguson (Newcastle United), Niall McGinn (Celtic), Grant McCann (Scunthorpe United), Corry Evans (Manchester United), Stephen Carson (Coleraine), Robert Garrett (Linfield), Andrew Little (Rangers), David Healy (Sunderland), James Lawrie (Port Vale), Martin Donnelly (Crusaders).
