Midfielder-turned-defender Jaime Peters has been named in the Canada squad for the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the USA next month. The 22-year-old is the youngest member of caretaker-manager Stephen Hart's travelling party.

Peters recently won his 16th full cap in a friendly victory over Cyprus after being out of the international picture for almost a year.

Canada start their group campaign with a game against Jamaica on 3rd July in Los Angeles, then four says later they are in Columbus facing El Salvador, before completing the opening phase on 10th July in Miami against Costa Rica.

Peters was not involved in the most recent Gold Cup in 2007, but was in the squad for the 2005 competition when he became Canada's youngest ever player at the competition at 17.

The Ontario-born player's involvement in the tournament means he will miss the start of pre-season training with Town.
