Priskin Bid Rejected
Priskin Bid Rejected
Tuesday, 4th Aug 2009 20:29

Watford have confirmed that they have rejected a bid for striker Tamás Priskin from a Championship club believed to be Town.

The offer, said to be £1.2 million, doesn't match the Hornets' valuation and the Blues will have to increase their bid if they are to sign the Hungarian international.

Earlier today, Priskin's agent József Vörösbaranyi said that he thought a deal would be struck between the two clubs with the player keen on the move.

TWTD first broke the news of Town's interest in the 22-year-old frontman last Thursday.

First offers will nearly always be rejected, that's just a way of life!

I'm sure we'll be going back in for him and i think he's worth it.

7 in 19 for your country and 14 goals last year in a poor Watford side speaks for itself. Lisbie can stay at Colchester thanks, although i do think he should have been kept at PR until we had our man....

Lisbie 25 and at the peak of his career! If you're going to knock Keane at least get the facts right! I take it you didnt see to many games involving Lisbie last season.

I guess all those muppets calling for Keane's head 4 days before the start of the new season are jealous of the position that Newcastle United are in then .... for goodness sake, 100% league record so far, increased season ticket sales, massively increased media interest, rejuvenated squad in the process of rebuilding ... what more do you want?? Keane is doing the best he can given our status as a slightly-above-average Championship side. Unlike teams like West Brom, it is several years since we were in the Premiership, and we will struggle to attract the highest level players that some people think we are entitled to just because we have money and a high-profile manager. Jim was given 3 years before fans and the club ran out of patience with our lack of progress, so why is Keane only getting 3 months from some of you? Or is it that he will never be accepted by some people?

For what its worth, I think Priskin would be a good acquisition, even if only to get us promoted. And yes, when we have re-established ourselves as either a promotion-chasing side or a Premiership side, THEN we can attract higher calibre players - it is a long building process, not an overnight magic trick (no pun intended). As far as I can tell, Keane is looking to bring in workhorses - players to put in a good shift - not necessarily glamour players and pretty boys who might cost a lot and look good on paper, but ultimately fail to improve the team.

So lets get behind the manager, behind the team, and stop this pointless anti-Keane whinging! We can always buy Ronaldo next season ....

In this market today £2 million for a 22 year old international striker, proven at this level would be good business. sad to see rhodes go but if we sign priskin we'd be replacing young potential for the future with young potential for the right now. I also hope we sign this youngster on loan from sunderland, who'd heard of Jack Wiltshire 2 years ago?? you just never know.

I would bid up to 2m for Tamas Priskin as it would be good business and would score a decent amount of goals as we match the type of play that he enjoys playing. Also, who heard about Dave Nugent? Portsmouth taking disaplinary action against him and another player for a bust-up lmao. Greedy sod.

great shout gooseman1, he had already been fitted up with a town blazer and agreed terms!!! shocker that 1. altho i do often wonder weather phillips would have achieved here what he did at sunderland without big niall quinn at his side, sometimes players only produce their best in a 1 off partnership, they were made for each other, but a great player i still wish we had.

Good news for you boys and girls that want Priskin at PR this year, maybe even this Sunday... he was seen by my 20/20 vision pair of eyes walking into PR this morning with a smartly dressed fella I hope I correctly assume is his agent???

Watford have let him come down here so a deal is either agreed or going to be... Maybe Murphy is a cover up story?? Or maybe he's the second stricker... the plot thickens!
