Priskin Bid Rejected
Priskin Bid Rejected
Tuesday, 4th Aug 2009 20:29

Watford have confirmed that they have rejected a bid for striker Tamás Priskin from a Championship club believed to be Town.

The offer, said to be £1.2 million, doesn't match the Hornets' valuation and the Blues will have to increase their bid if they are to sign the Hungarian international.

Earlier today, Priskin's agent József Vörösbaranyi said that he thought a deal would be struck between the two clubs with the player keen on the move.

TWTD first broke the news of Town's interest in the 22-year-old frontman last Thursday.

Will be here by coventry game..prob not the actual money they have rejected but want a clause stating £X is paid upon promotion if and when it happens.. After all thnk back a few years, would we have accepted 1.2M for darren bent from a fellow championship club before he really proved himself?

OK so were after this lad from watford whom scored more goals than lisbie last term and is 8 years younger makes him easily worth the money.

however i have to ask why we have not gone in for Jermaine Beckford at leeds looks really good scores loads of goals and wants a transfer - most of the prem have ignored him i think, any ideas what Leeds might want for him !

Also any one else think we look a little light at the back as were still shipping more goals than empty containers

It's because Beckford hasn't proved himself at this level. Sam Parkin looked great but couldn't move up a level. Don't see the point in buying Beckford, we had as good as Beckford at that level in Rhodes and Lisbie

According to comments on a Watford newspaper...
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/watfordfc/watfordfcnews/4528832.Watford_r
...they've spent a couple of seasons developing and settling Priskin in and he has just come good... looking at the Youtube clips he does actually look like what we've been missing... Rhodes for £850,000? Counago for £500,000?? and Lisbie for a couple of jazz mags and a 4-pack of stella??? then we eventually get a striker for £1.5M who is chomping at the bit and proven at this level???? and another one in the pipeline????? Sounds like good management to me... Go get him Roy ;-)

Why are we slagging him off!
1) He's not even here yet
2) People want youngsters so when Keane tries for one, they moan
3) You can't get a 20 goal a season striker at our level for our club!

Priskin is a classy finisher and more selfish than Stead and Counago which is what we need. He's still young and has now settled. This year will be his big year and my friend a Watford season ticket holder rates him very highly!

Pay a maximum of £2million, get him in and shut up the boo boys, KEANO!

Why not bring back Sam Parkin, he never got a chance when here in his first spell... he could be the key to promotion. Roy Keane doesnt have the balls to make this sort of signing, sack him now!!! Keane out!!!!! Whos with me???!!!

Big_Foot_Blue ... What are you on? You and RK should stay away from this club.

Priskin didn't really get going last season until Brendan Rogers took over at Watford - he scored 9 goals in his last 16 matches of the season, so hardly an "unproven" scorer at CCC level...aside from his goals, from what I've seen of him I think his all round game is pretty classy so I'd be delighted to see him pull on a Town shirt!

Pretty sure this deal WILL happen - RK's clearly interested in the lad, according to his agent the lad want to play for Ipswich (nice to hear!), and with a year to run on his contract, Watford will be looking to sell rather than risk losing him for nowt in January. Just the small matter of the price...

In Keano We Trust!

The impression i get from Watford messageboards is that he looked an increasingly exciting prospect in the post-'longballs Boothroyd' era towards the end of last season, when he was fed shorter, lower passes. Given that Keane's only spent a fraction of Jim's outgoings so far, i think an increased bid for Priskin is justified.
The cynic in me agrees with previous posters, Watford know we've got a bit of money to spend and are trying to milk as much as they can out of us.

hi. i think priskin will be a top signing, he has prem and international exp at only 22. still think we will get 1 more striker and the lad from sunderland has had rave reviews. they will both bring quality.

This guy is garbage. Why are we even interested in a Watford player? They know we have cash and are taking the Mickey. They need cash, but we shouldn't be held to ransom. We need a nailed on 1st XI striker. Keane promised two - not realising, or at least I didn't, that this would mean that 3 would have to go. So what of the Cov game? Wickham & Stead up top? Walters & Stead? Maybe Stead as a loan striker? Shocking I'm afraid.

Priskin will hopefully come here, he sounds the sort of player we need and as you say Stephen the Sunderland lad has had rave reviews.

People need to get real. We are not able to sign Wayne Rooney. Priskin would be an excellent signing - his goal ration is around one goal every three games. Excellent. Lisbie scored SIX for us last season. Priskin would surely be better.

he looks like someone that would do well for us , increase the offer or offer to patch up their crappy ground , it's time we got someone in after all the exits recently . whatever happened to that £5m we were going to splash ?

Seems to me that a lot of people are expecting us to go out and buy the so-called "20 goal a season" striker but without spending more than a fiver!
Yes we have money and yes other teams know this, however I believe that Priskin could be the bargain of the season even at £2m.
He is young, talented (watch the youtube clip, it's obvious the guy can score goals) and notched a good return in an average side last season.
Why not take a punt with him?
For all the postulating that we all put into our comments, only Roy knows what he want's at the end of the day, and the rest of us are simply along for the ride!
For what it's worth, in my opinion it's going to be a good season.
As someone else on here puts it so well -"in Roy we trust".

Personally this potential signing has got me quite excited. Having seen him play previously I think he has potential to get better and looks to be an "Ipswich" type of player. I think we could be the making of him and he of us. Go for RK!

Sometimes you need to speculate to accumulate!!

I think instead of wasting time in pursuit of a very average Watford Priskin, we should have a word with Colchester and rethink the departure of Kevin Lisbie. Hes only 25 years old and at the peak of his career. After seeing what he did for colchester in the champ two years ago, he would surely be the leagues top scorer next season if we keep him on now hes got a years experience with Ipswich. Keane sort it out or even better get out!!

TruBlu added 23:38 - Aug 4
Lisbie at the peak of his career? He's 30, not 25! Kind of makes the "Keane sort it out or even better get out!! " look a bit silly.

Priskin 9 in 16 for Watford at the end of the season which is a good return i think the hornets are going to see how much we want the player and we will end up paying around £1.75 million which maybe a little overpriced but i believe he will be a good signing and could cause a threat along with stead and Samassi about what you on about lisbie 25 and i dont know what games you were watching last year but he was useless like samassi abou..

In the current climate and with the season start looming, clubs selling decent strikers will know that they can reject initial bids. They will expect (and probably get) a better offer - so we have to wait and see....

Patience is a virtue.
