Keane Eyeing Former Players
Keane Eyeing Former Players
Monday, 24th Aug 2009 22:04

TWTD understands that Town boss Roy Keane was expected to watch tonight’s Norwich City-Sunderland Carling Cup tie at Carrow Road to run the rule over one or two of his ex-players.

Nyron Nosworthy and Carlos Edwards were the players most likely to be interesting the Blues boss from the much-changed Black Cats starting line-up.

Daryl Murphy, who the Blues have been trying to sign for much of close season, was amongst the Sunderland subs and came on in the second half, while midfielder Andy Reid may also have caught Keane’s eye with two goals as Steve Bruce’s side defeated the Canaries 4-1.

Central defender Nosworthy and right midfielder/right-back Edwards have both been linked with Town on a number of occasions over the summer, having been key members of Keane’s Sunderland side.

Town’s Alex Bruce was present at the game to watch his father’s side in action.

Dont want to see Walters out, OK so he has not had best start to season , but he has been a good player for us and i reckon if we could just get a team thats working,he can still do a good job .

Murphy looked very ordinary.

Don't think Bruce would let Reid go, but he is just what we need.

edwards, nosworthy and reid would be great signings. i struggle to understand how some people can write on here that reid would not be a great signing, his finishes last night against the scum prove it all. he would be a midfield meistro in our team. looking forward to tonighs game to see what the team is and so it gives us a clue on who is staying and who is going. in keano we trust.

Edwards would be quality seem him play a few times and he actually runs at and beats defenders from the wing and chips in with a few goals but certyainly assists. Nosworthy would be a good solid experienced centre half who would help us stop conceeding stupid goals ! However centre mid is still my concern, as from what I have seen of the first 3 games and then on Sky on Saturday, Trotter is slow and cant jump for a 6ft bloke !, Healy simply not good enough, Peters lively needs someone or couple with him to allow him the freedom. Norris is a big loss in my opinion, at least he will get stuck in !! Garvan good passer at times but not lived up to expectations. Come on Roy gets those boots on !! Wil be there again tonight and Saturday and forever more. IN Keane I have faith !

Anyone like to see RK hijack Sol Campbell's move to Notts County? Although wages might be the wrong type of problem for us and our overstaffed squad.

Evening Star says that Stead, Garvan and Quinn have been told they are out.

Not always a reliable source, but those three would make sense, haven't really shown their best at all over the past 3 league games and pre season.

all these players yes please, what great signings theyd be for ipswich and edwards can play RCM and reid can play LCM you guys, and these two would walk all over walters/martin anyday, i still think give martin time though, hes young and has looked promising at sometimes, as for nosworthy, maybe a little passed it but hes got expereince and thats what we need at the back, big strong and black, not being racist but the best are black as there normally strong, take balde, shittu, big and strong and would be great, nosworthy would be another one of these and if any of these came i would be exstatic

Agree Reid would be a good signing, not so sure about Murphy.
