Strong Reserves Side Faces Southend
Strong Reserves Side Faces Southend
Wednesday, 20th Jan 2010 11:30

Town are set to field a strong reserves side in this afternoon’s game against Southend United at Playford Road (KO 2pm). Lee Martin, Alex Bruce, Tamás Priskin and Alan Quinn are all likely to face the Shrimpers.

Ben Thatcher is expected to play his first game since the pre-season friendly at Bury Town, having continued to have problems with the knee ligament injury he suffered in the 3-2 derby victory over Norwich City last season.

Ed Upson and Shane O'Connor are back from a virus and a knee ligament injury respectively.

Former Town academy schoolboy Stuart O'Keefe and on-loan Sunderland defender Jean-Yves M'voto, who was signed by Roy Keane during his time at the Stadium of Light, have been included in the Southend squad.

Southend team - M'Voto is on loan from Sunderland and will play 45 minutes. Dougie Freedman is the only other name I recognise.

Southend United: Ian Joyce, Jean-Francois Christophe, Jean-Yves M'Voto, Duran Reynolds, Johnny Herd, James Walker, Jamie Dennis, Stuart O'Keefe, Kyle Asante, Scott Spencer, Dougie Freedman.

Subs: Harry Crawford, Adetayo Osifuwa, Marcus Milner, Merrick James-Lewis, Justin Hazell.

Christ forgot we still had Ben Thatcher! Bloody hell, he's one to sweep out the door at the end of the season!

It is a strong team. Embarrasing if we should lose. If Priskin can't score against this lot who will he score against?

Yes elburro3, he is a quality striker who jst hasn't been given enough of a chance yet in the first team, hopefully he will do well and be involved at southampton.

time is running out for Priskin I think. He needs to prove himself not only in the reserves but in the first team. It's down to the player at the end of the day.

Well Priskin did score but as for a win!

Not judging by the half time score!
