Keane Considering Deadline Move Monday, 22nd Mar 2010 10:07
Boss Roy Keane says he’s weighing up whether to bring in a further loan player before Thursday’s emergency deadline. Meanwhile, the Town manager says there have been no further progress regarding Brentford’s offer for central defender Pim Balkestein.
Last Thursday, Keane revealed that he was considering whether to make another addition to his squad, but says that as yet there have been no developments: “I’ve made no progress, but it’s something in the back of my mind and I know we’re running out of days. We’ll see over the next few days. We’ll see after tomorrow night.”
Brentford have made an offer of a loan leading to a permanent move for Balkestein, who was on loan at Griffin Park earlier in the season, but Keane says there has been no progress on the potential move: “I’ve left it with the chief executive. They made an offer last week and I’ve left it with him.
"They’re keen on Pim, but he played for the reserves last week and trained with us yesterday and, as long as he’s here, like every other player he’ll have a chance.
“There’s no point in me speaking to the player as I don’t think anything’s been agreed [between the clubs]. I spoke to his agent briefly for a couple of minutes last week. Unless it’s taken further I’ll focus on working with the players.
“If something was agreed, then obviously I would speak to Pim. We’re fairly pleased with Pim, I have to say.”

Personally I don't think Keanes inability to attract high profile players is the problem. When have we ever attracted these kind of players anyway? It has always been about bringing the best out of the academy and unearthing gems from obscure foreign leagues. Where is the next Reuser? Where is the next Taricco? What the hell happened to this continental scouting network which was set up when Evans took over, the last such signing was Civelli. I'm assuming Keane has ditched this and looks no further than the league of Ireland.

I can give you the exact reason why this season has gone the way its has. First game of the season - Coventry away - lost 2-1 after absolutly dominating, that is what ruined the first 14 games of this season. We lost so much confidence that game and it showed. I have questioned whether Keano is the right man for the job since day one, he is everything we are not lol but that is not always a bad thing, and as he is our manager he needs to be given every chance to prove that he paid attention to Fergie after all those years. He will come good and as proven the last 24 games or so with the points we have accumulated in that period. This season has been a learning curve. Too many draws and too man games thrown away. Players we need to keep Murphy Healy Jack C Liam R Steady Players Out Pablo Prisken Martin That of course is just my view

meeeeoooooow Injured ! Big cat avatar too . ha ha . Pavey88ITFC, not having a go ,but while i agree about that first match, the team should not have capitulated after a first game loss, bloody hell 14 games is a long stretch. The recent run could be argued as improvement [although too many draws] but only against a really dire start .A few weeks ago i for one thought we would struggle to beat the drop, that situation has eased ,but we cant afford many more blips.A win tonight [and i think we will win ,but make hard work of it probably] will almost assure us of staying up.

it would be easy to think tonight would be the night to really stuff a team, but we have struggled with even lower teams than ourselves. But hey ho we can hope, the season is fast running down it woud be good to have one big score,to remind us of the heady days of scoring 4s and 5s . COYB

@ddm Yeah I know, said with tongue planted firmly in my cheek, still rather it planted there than where BB has his! Dont always agree with you, and I know sure as hell you dont always agree with me, but i do respect your original thoughts, and I know affirmation is good for the ego, but come on be honest, who really likes a kissass?
