![]() Friday, 2nd Apr 2010 11:11 Boss Roy Keane says there should be news regarding Connor Wickham’s contract over the weekend. The striker turned 17 on Wednesday and is now able to put pen to paper on his first professional contract. Wickham will be back at Portman Road today having been away with England’s U17s and Keane says the situation with his new terms should be sorted sooner rather than later: “He’s due in training this morning ahead of the game tomorrow and we hope to have news over the weekend, hopefully positive. “The boy’s been away all week with England, doing very well, and that’s what the boy needs to do - focus on his football. “The contract will take care of itself. He’s left in the care of his dad and his agent and I’ve left it with Simon Clegg. Fingers crossed we’ll have some sort of news over the weekend.” Wickham had been chased by a host of Premier League clubs but there appears to be little sign that the Colchester-based youngster will do anything other than sign for the Blues. The striker looks set to be on the bench on Saturday when Town face Reading, whose academy he was with as a schoolboy prior to joining the Blues after his serviceman father was posted to Colchester.
