Strong Reserves Squad Named for Colchester Clash
Strong Reserves Squad Named for Colchester Clash
Tuesday, 6th Apr 2010 11:33

Town have named a strong reserves squad for this afternoon’s game against Colchester United at Playford Road (KO 2pm). The match was originally scheduled to be a home game for the U’s but the game has switched due to the poor state of their pitch.

Owen Garvan, Pablo Couñago, Lee Martin, Tommy Smith and Liam Rosenior are all included alongside reserves regulars like Tom Eastman and Luke Hyam. Defender Troy Brown is missing having received a nasty blow to the face in last week’s reserves defeat to Luton.

Steve Foley’s men currently sit in third place in the Totesport.com Football Combination East Division with only one more league game, at Northampton on April 27th, left to go after today, in addition to the LB Group Suffolk Premier Cup final against Needham Market at Portman Road on April 19th.

Reserves: Ainsley, Brandon, Clark, Couñago, Dunbar, Eastman, Garvan, Griffiths, Hyam, Lambe, Lee-Barrett, Martin, Rosenior, Smith, Yao.

Interesting, now with Connor scoring two recently I don't think there is much room for Pabs! I do rate Rosenior but he has tough competition with Peters now!
And also..
I've heard people say we should let Yao go, he's been here what, two months or so? It took about 6 months to sign him, so surely he must have something! Could someone explain to me if he really isn't worth it!?

Judging by RK's team selection (especially the subs) yesterday, the writing seems pretty much on the wall for Garvan and Rosenior - and no R Wright in the Reserves either!

Seems RK is already looking towards next Season with the choice of Eastman on the bench and giving Smith an outing too.

jamie22 - at the moment we still only have 4 strikers (Murphy, Healy, Wickham and Pablo) counting Walters as a right midfielder. Healy's not really performed and Wickham won't play every game so he will still be used between now and the end of the season - plus 2 of those strikers are only on loan so i won't write him off just yet. But will be interesting to see what happens next season especially as we'll have Stead, Priskin and Lisbie potentially coming back.
Rosenior's tough competition is David Wright not Peters, when Peters plays its either left back or right wing... after falling out of the side i can't see him signing for us now...
Can't comment on Yao as not seen him; sounded promising but then his reserve performances so far have apparently been pretty poor.

I've seen Yao play once and although he is quite skillful on the ball he appears like he has no idea how to play football, his positioning, movement off the ball and reading of the game is what you'd expect from a 12 year old thats never had proper training. I'd give him another year, but put him back to train with the schoolboys and hope it isn't too late for him to learn.

Christ we should hammer them with that lot playing.
Has anyone watched Troy Brown this season? Any good?

Newburyblue, you are right and I hope I am wrong as I do love Pabs but I just have a feeling he will not be part of Keanes plans to go up!
Peters was playing RB before getting injured yesterday though! Either way, he has said he likes the club and may stay, who knows!
Cheers stainless for that, that is often a problem and a shame, especially for someone with the ability!

What has happened to Rosenior? Is he injured. He has gone from one of RK first names on the team sheet to nowhere. Is this a sign that we will not look to go for a permanent deal. Shame if this is so, because him and Wrighty competing for that position is one of the strongest out of the whole team.

Agree with Jamie22 about Yao. Without seeing him in action we spent ages trying to get him, so he must have shown something. He can't be on big money so seems frivolous to get rid att he end of the season. There again we did spend a fortune of Martin and Priskin.

Pablo is an interesting one. Priskin has now said publically that he would not like to play for us again as has Lisbie So I can't see them coming back unless nobody else wants them. Stead has been dumped by RK twice in his career now so I am willing to bet he won't want to come back either. Pablo's future would seem to depend on who, if any, we buy in the close season.
