TWTD understands that academy central defender Tom Eastman has been offered a one-year professional contract by the Blues. The Clacton-based youngster was on the bench at Derby on Monday and is tipped to make his first team debut by the end of the season.

The 6ft 3in tall 18-year-old has impressed for both the U18s and the reserves this season with manager Roy Keane recently singling him out for praise.

Last Thursday Keane revealed that he would tell all the club's second-year scholars whether they were being kept on this week.

One year deal to keep him on his toes till he proves he's worth a longer deal - and like Connor, he will prove how good he is next Season.

He and Tommy Smith will take over from Delaney and McAuley in good time, I hope. Two excellent, home-grown talents.
