Town boss Roy Keane says he will be looking to organise “six or seven” pre-season games before a high profile showcase match at Portman Road prior to 2010/11 kicking off. The Town manager is set to speak with chief executive Simon Clegg regarding his pre-season plans this week.

Keane told the club site: "We are discussing pre-season now and the players will be reporting back at the end of June.

"We are looking at what worked and what didn't last summer before confirming our plans for this year

"We squeezed a lot in last summer, perhaps too much, but we didn't pick up too many injuries.

"We had five or six great days in Portugal and ideally I'd like to play a couple of games over there as well, but to do that you've got to be at the top of the Championship or in the Premier League to be attractive enough to pick up friendlies.

"We will look at going to Ireland again and in all I'd like six or seven games, building up to a high calibre match at Portman Road before we kick off in August."

Meanwhile, the club has posted an interview with owner and chairman Marcus Evans from Sunday’s programme on its website.
