Reading Chasing Murphy Monday, 10th May 2010 13:36 Town are facing competition from Reading for Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy’s signature. The Royals are understood to have started talks with the Black Cats regarding the Irish international, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Portman Road. Sunderland are believed to want £1 million for the 27-year-old, who has another two years left on his contract at the Stadium of Light. Murphy, who is likely to have to take a cut of almost 50% on his £20,000-a-week plus wage to move to a Championship club, is understood to be keen on a permanent switch to Portman Road, having scored six goals in 18 games for the Blues. Elsewhere, Norwich, Hull and QPR are all reported to have joined Town in showing interest in Sunderland keeper Marton Fulop. And former Town assistant manager John Gorman has taken on the same role alongside new MK Dons boss Karl Robinson. Roy Keane's number one target for the new role as his assistant, ex-Watford and Reading boss Brendan Rodgers, had been linked with the MK Dons job but now seems set to join the Blues. Meanwhile, departing Town loanee Liam Rosenior has pleaded guilty to using a motor vehicle without third party insurance and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and is due to be sentenced at Lowestoft Magistrates’ Court today.
