Duo Hope to Win Irish Caps

Striker Ronan Murray and keeper Ian McLoughlin will hope to win caps this evening when the Republic of Ireland U19s take on hosts Ukraine in their second European U19 Championships elite qualifying group game in Borodinka.

Murray, who has 12 caps, was in the starting line-up but was replaced at half-time in the 1-0 defeat to England on Wednesday, while McLoughlin, who won his only cap so far in a recent friendly against Poland, was an unused sub. Ireland complete their group fixtures on Monday when they take on Bosnia-Herzegovina in Kiev.

Both McLoughlin and Murray were offered one-year contracts by the Blues at the end of the season. The keeper had previously been on professional terms, while Murray completed his academy scholarship this season.
