Town Miss Out on Celtic Youngster
Town Miss Out on Celtic Youngster

Town are reported to be one of a number of clubs to have missed out on signing Celtic youngster Graham Carey on loan. The Blues, Wolves, Wigan and Blackpool are all claimed to have been chasing the 21-year-old, who instead will join League One Huddersfield for the first half of the season.

Left-back or left winger Carey, who has been capped at U21 level by the Republic of Ireland, was a youth player with Shelbourne before moving to Parkhead in 2005.

Carey spent the second half of last season on loan at St Mirren, having played alongside Brian Murphy at Bohemians during another short-term spell late in 2008/09.

Meanwhile, another left-sided player believed to have been in Town's sights, George Boyd, has signed a new three-year deal with Peterborough. The move comes as a surprise with the 24-year-old midfielder having been expected to leave London Road this summer.

@joeippy - anybody can look good with 3 or 4 minutes of video footage spread over god knows how many seasons. Not that I am so inclined, but I could put together a video of a another player and add all his spectacular goals and great play and wrap it into 3 minutes of footballing heaven to drool over. Unfortunately, Keane saw that video and went and wasted 1.7m on him !!!!!

Well done. There is a video of him scoring a few goals. He must be awesome. How can you say he'll score 15 goals for us next season, when he has only scored 14 goals in 68 games for Leeds at a lower level? Is that really the kind of record we need? I stick by my original judgement-he is rubbish.

Gypo you obviously have not seen Steve Bruces latest comments about waghorn most likely going out on loan again as they are getting a new striker in and its not good for him to play in the reserves.

LOL id rather have dean bowditch back than simeon jackson or tresor kandol we allready have two strikers of their quallity in counago and Stead who we are trying to get rid of because they arent good enough.....we are looking for better or keep what we have.

This story doesn't add up. If Premier League clubs were "chasing" him, there's no way he'd have ended up at Huddersfield.

More likely is that Celtic offered him around, the clubs listed had a look and said, "no thanks".

fatboy you obviously read to much into what the press says missed out on.... we probably had someone watching him once or roy keane asked how his mother was....
same goes for wolves wigan and blackpool if they had been genuinly interested he would be there.
or us and wolves etc wanted to buy him but they arent interested in selling an we arent interested in only oaning him.

I'm not sure why not rating Kandol, who is clearly in a relationship with 'joeippy', means I should support another team? Why is it everyone on here seems to think everyone who disagrees with them can't be town fans, just with a different view?

on and on down and down we go this time next year norwich will be laughing at us . keane is certainly a devisive figure .what i cannot understand is how anyone can find a reason to give thier blind loyalty to a man who has done nothing for our club but send it backwards oh and create a new club record for worst starts to a season
