Swansea Linked With Priskin Move
Swansea Linked With Priskin Move
Wednesday, 21st Jul 2010 09:07

New Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers is reported to be targeting Town striker Tamás Priskin. The Hungarian international had his most successful season in English football playing under Rodgers at Watford prior to his £1.7 million move to the Blues last summer.

Despite last year’s poor showing, when he scored twice for Town before being sent out on loan at QPR, Priskin was not one of the eight players made available for transfer earlier in the summer. So far in pre-season, the 23-year-old has been a regular starter in Roy Keane's side.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United have confirmed that they will pay the wages of former Blues loanee Simon Walton for the entire season, despite the on-loan Plymouth player picking up a season-ending cruciate knee ligament injury.

Blades boss Kevin Blackwell said: "He is contracted to us for this season so we are responsible for his wages."

The 22-year-old only moved to Bramall Lane last week and suffered the injury in a friendly against Mansfield.

Elsewhere, former defender Titus Bramble is set to join Sunderland from Wigan. The clubs have agreed a reported £1 million fee and the 29-year-old is to hold talks regarding personal terms and undergo a medical at the Stadium of Light.

Surco, Magilton didn't give Peters a look in at all during his time at the club so you can take him out of that list of players. Trotter was brought into the team under Magilton and im afraid never quite got over that quite frankly awful red card against pompey. Magiltons man management was also pretty abject and was similar if not actually the same as keanes, he used to stand on the touchline and bellow at players, yes thats passion but its not encouraging them or putting an arm round them, yet you're criticising keanes management

I would be disappointed if Priskin or Martin left at this point as we havent seen the best of them here - I think Magilton being an ex-player and a bit soft has left the players feeling complacent and Keane completely shittud them up meaning crazy team changes each week not helped by the no winning streak. Introducing these players in to that situation is hard and a good start this year and we will see much better from both. A confident Priskin in a confident team will do some damage at this level. It also depends on our main system we use next season (2 weeks!) and if we have 2 strikers I think Wickham will relieve the pressure on Priskin, accomodating his slightly lazy style and allowing him to score much more goals for us. He is still a player learning and to compare him to Sam Parkin is completely remedial. Chopra would be okay but his scoring record this calendar year makes £4 million about 1.5 million too much I reckon. x

I think some of you have been a bit hash on Priskin, What chance does the bloke have when his own fans are slating him. Hasn't really been given a chance by Keane was to in out of the side, wasn't given a long enough run in the side, takes time for some players to settle, he is only 23. Problem is Priskin likes the ball to his feet, but the style we now play doesn't suit his game. If we do sell him now we won't get any where near the 1.7 mill we paid. Do agree he hasn't really set the world a light, but think he should be given a run in the side, if no change then yes cut our lose's, which will be big!

I agree we blueherts, should have gone for Jackson, the scum have good young player there, we bags of pace. I hear Chopra is a done deal, once we off load two players, think the money we will spend and the outlay isn't worh it, yes he is a proven goal scorer, but its alot of money, think we would be better off by young players like Jackson we need some Pace! Hate to say it but I think the scum will do well next season.

My cousin is a Watford season ticket holder & he says Priskin only started to play in the last six months before his contract wasup. Before that he was just like we've seen him - uninterested. The Watford fans thought it was hilarious us paying so much for him - doubt he'll go for more than £400k.

Echo many of the previous comments on here. A Watford supporting friend of mine said at the time that Priskin was useless until Rodgers became a boss and he had a good 4 months or so. Rodgers seems to be able to get the best out of him so might be best for all parties if he moves as I just cannot see it working for him at ITFC whoever the manager is or whatever management skills are used. That said I doubt Swansea would be able to pay much for him

I agree with an earlier post - Priskin did not become a bad player overnight. This can happen in football. A player does well for one club, but fails to settle at another. For the good of the player and the club it may be better if he moves on.

You and Lisbie had to much in common. Both your parent clubs were laughing when we brought you two in after your fluke seasons. Lisbie was really compared to you.
But i'm not sure if Priskin and Lisbie had enough time or chances while they were here. (even tho none of them have gone)
When Priskin and Lisbie where at Watford and Colchester (respectivly) they were used as first team players and therefore giving runs in the team also they were at the teams for more than a season to get this good season when we brought them. So even tho I want them to go I'll ask myself when Priskin and LIsbie score lots for their new clubs, did they get time to shine?

Keane is at fault ! Tamas Priskin is a skilful ,international player who unfortunately for him ,has come across Keane who singlehandedly can destroy any player's confidence ! Keane is a nightmare as a manager ! Priskin stay and KEANE GO !!!!
