Priskin Wins Cap as Hungary Lose to England
Priskin Wins Cap as Hungary Lose to England
Wednesday, 11th Aug 2010 22:03

Town striker Tamás Priskin won his 27th Hungary cap as his national side lost 2-1 to England at Wembley this evening.

Priskin came on in the 83rd minute for one-time Town target Gergely Rudolf, while team-mate Márton Fülöp remained on the bench for the full 90 minutes.

The Blues striker set up a good chance for Fulham’s Zoltan Gera close to the end but keeper Joe Hart saved.

Earlier, Phil Jagielka scored an own goal to put the visitors in front, despite the ball clearly not crossing the line, but England skipper Steven Gerrard hit back with two quick goals to win the match.

Priskin looked really good in the game, and nearly set up Gear to equalise in the 82nd minute

what a differant player he looks this season.... full of confidence, some lovely touches and covered a lot of the pitch - switching wings and through the middle. please oh please tell me this player has turned a corner and will be showing consistant performances week in week out

Yes, he did look sharp for those eight minutes. How many of you secretly wanted him to score? Maybe it will be perm three from Priskin, Wickham and Scotland this season.

Short but sweet for Priskin and better still no further injuries - I'd be the first to admit PSGBlue that I wanted him to score. Looking forward to seeing him upfront on Saturday COYB!

Thought he did well on his short time on the pitch, was glad to see him on. There was definitaly a part of me that wanted him to score when he came on though. Great couple of goals, classic Gerrad

not only did i want him to score i wanted hungary to win as it would surely see the end of fabio as manager, great club manager but not an international manager.

Priskin should have been brought on much earlier. Hungary showed ability on the occasions they went forward they just severely lack belief. As for england i'm afraid rubbish again. Rooney has been exposed as an overrated petulant prat, and without gerrard they would be screwed. To struggle to score against a side that gave the amount of respect and space that hungary did is shocking!

Renshaw, that's pretty good going if he didn't come on until the 83rd minute!

He looked a different player to the one we were so disappointed with we let go on loan to QPR. Great through ball - Gera should have scored.

Was I the only one wgho was more interested in seeing Priskin (and potentially Fulop) then England players ?

disappointed not to have seen Fulop in goal and only 7 mins for Priskin, he hardly had time to switch off. He did look good however.

C'mon you blues

Would have been nice to see more minutes for Tamas and some of Fulop. Not a great game - always rated Gera - he'd be a decent player for us.

In the absence of our boys, and the fact that I find it hard to watch these over rated Premiership Charlies, whom wouldn't give our club the time of day - nor would their supporters - flicked between this game and the CB40 - think the cricket was far better to be honest... England / Gerrard did well - a bit too late I'm afraid lads.

I was at the game last night, so was on TamasWatch for the few minutes he was on the pitch! To add to what you would have seen on TV (some nice touches, great 1-2 through ball to Gera) he looked very sharp last night, great movement off the ball (always looking for through balls running off the last defender), and seems to have more pace than last season.

In contrast, Rooney seems to have carried over his World Cup form, as he was hopeless last night - it's no coincidence that England improved once he went off. Did a poor job as the lone striker in the first half 4-3-3 (dropped deep for the ball far too often), and hardly broke out of a jog the whole time he was on the pitch. If he suddenly starts producing the form we know he's capable of for Man U in the next few weeks, something must be amiss with his England mindset...

Priskin linked well with Gera which nearly resulted in a goal. It would have been good to have seen him come on earlier.

Impressed with Priskin last night - he looked lively and what a pass for their chance late on!
