Town Sign Andros Townsend on Loan Thursday, 12th Aug 2010 13:23
Town have signed Tottenham left midfielder Andros Townsend on a season-long loan. TWTD first revealed the Blues' interest in the 19-year-old back in May.
Boss Roy Keane said: "He's a lad with a lot of potential. We've had good reports on him and we are delighted to have him here."
The Blues sent a representative to watch the quick winger in action in a friendly against Chelsea at Tottenham’s training ground on Wednesday. The game had been arranged to show off the clubs’ young talent to sides interested in taking their players on loan.
Townsend, who played in all three of Tottenham's games on their pre-season tour of the USA, came through the Spurs academy and went on loan to Yeovil Town at the end of the 2008/09 season, scoring one goal in 10 starts.
The 6ft tall midfielder spent the first half of last season at Leyton Orient, where former Blue Geraint Williams was then boss, netting two goals in 20 starts and six appearances.
In January the England U16 and U19 international moved on to the MK Dons, where he made eight starts and one sub appearance, scoring twice.

I've been fortunate to referee him a few times at Spurs Youth and was 4th official at Spurs vs Ipswich reserves 2 years ago and everytime hes been amazing. Did well at MK dons last year too and this is a big signing for him as well as us.
Great, finally a winger with some pace and skill, cant remember the last time we had one of those. Now for Scotland, McCormack and Finnan and we are sorted!
Great signing lets hope more to arrive shortly,do wonder whats the story with Civelli when we have brought him in.Nzobgia just handed in transfer request with Wigan so wonder will that have any effect on Scotland moving??
kerryblue i have just read Scotland with us and finalising contract/having medical so possibly too late for Wigan to back track even if they wanted to? although can say 100% this is a fact but sounds credible!
This young guy was a class above the rest at Leyton Orient (loan) last year. A bit iffy on distribution as he liked to do it nearly all himself! But a crowd winner and a potential match winner. Will be good to see him locally instead of going to the Orient! KEANE'S KID'S RULE!!
Great news! Looks like a really good prospect, pace is always the main fear of any defender and looks like he has that in abundance. Welcome to Town and look forward to seeing you in that blue shirt son. COYB!!!
