Two more Town strikers could be on their way out of Portman Road with Jon Stead understood to be continuing talks with Bristol City and Pablo Couñago a loan target of Crystal Palace. Jon Walters finally completed his move to Stoke this afternoon.

As reported earlier in the week, Bristol City have renewed their interest in Stead, despite talks with the Blues frontman previously breaking down. Stead is also holding talks with a number of other clubs, a move to Blackpool having also having fallen down after the former England U21 was unable to agree personal terms.

Crystal Palace were previously linked with a move for Couñago earlier in the month and a loan deal may suit all parties with the Eagles unlikely to be in a position to pay a fee or match the 31-year-old Spaniard’s current wages. Town would probably continue to pay part of the striker’s wages if he joins his former boss George Burley at Selhurst Park.

Couñago, who was spotted close to Town’s Playford Road training ground this afternoon, is currently out of favour at Portman Road having fallen out with boss Roy Keane after the recent friendly against a Spurs XI.

Over the weekend Town boss Roy Keane said he was hopeful of signing Wigan frontman Jason Scotland, although reports from Lancashire claim that move could be on hold until the Latics bring in a new striker.

Town may also seek to renew their interest in Cardiff’s Michael Chopra, widely understood to be Roy Keane’s top target this summer, now that Walters has gone and with the Bluebirds adding Craig Bellamy to their ranks.

Because you would be wrong....maybe I am allowed to assume you don't go to games because you clearly can't see that our squad is bare and we are not good enough? who's fault is that....oh yer....and BTW I think I could say the same about people who actually like keane....just because he is a 'big name' and thats only reason he was brought in, which is rediculous.

4-4-2 added 22:04 - Aug 18 now we have got rid of some players, that must surely have left us with at least 5 mill to spend and some decent wages to go with that, so with more counago going and steady (a maybe) then surely we can go in for a double swoop of chopra and McCormack? if not McCormack maybe a move for whittingham? I have a feeling the next few days could be seeing a few more players out of the door and hopefully some decent replecments coming in

4-4-2 added 22:22 - Aug 18 just found out that daniel cousin from hull has gone to a different club, which means that the swap for McCormack won't be happening. So hopefully now we can go back in for him with the money we got from walters

dan_itfc added 23:02 - Aug 18 We havan't had a prolific strike force at this level for a good 5 years when kuqi and bent tore the division apart so i am fully behind shifting stead and counago. Stead looks decent once every 7 games which wont be good enough if were pushing for top 6 and sorry pabs but your past it im afraid. I think Scotland will join either before palace or early next week and seeing as Scotland is relativly cheap there will be one 'big money' signing. IN KEANE I TRUST
