Town Linked With Rotherham Striker
Town Linked With Rotherham Striker
Tuesday, 24th Aug 2010 11:59

Town are amongst a number of Championship clubs reported to be keeping an eye on Rotherham striker Adam Le Fondre. The Blues, Coventry City and Derby County are said to have watched the 23-year-old as he scored four times in the Millers’ goaltastic 6-4 home victory over Cheltenham on Saturday.

Stockport-born Le Fondre played junior football with Crewe but moved on to his hometown club’s youth system where he progressed into the senior side.

After three years in the Hatters’ first team, Le Fondre joined Rochdale initially on loan before making his switch to Spotland permanent in the summer of 2007.

Having made 72 starts and 40 sub appearances and netting 42 goals for Dale, 5ft 11in tall Le Fondre joined Rotherham in August 2009.

The goals have continued to flow with 30 coming in 50 starts and one sub appearance last season, helping him to inclusion in the PFA League Two Team of the Year and Rotherham into the play-offs.

Le Fondre has added five more in his first four games this term, including Saturday’s quadruple.

I've heard of worse ideas.

A player like this has to be worth a shot and a lot of any cost could be 'postponed' in sell on clauses, appearancepayments and the like. Depends how creative Clegg can be in any negotiations.

Oh! Thats that idea gone then!

League 2? Yeah he scores a lot but we are in the Championship. And there have been other good goal scorers in league 1 that we have missed because they weren't in our league or in the Premier league.

So for that reason I can't see it happening.

Would rather have Rhodes back than this guy. Meh...

He does'nt look fat it's just the cut of his shirt and the fact that he wears it about 2 sizes to big!

Is Kezza pleasuring himself in his picture?

If so a word to the wise - Leave that face for lovers or the mirror - as I do.

Good grief no. Seen him play several times for Stockport, he is not up to Championship standard. Certainly not up to Jon Stead quality.

He may not be third choice. We don't know yet whether Scotland will retain his scoring prowess in the Championship and Wickham will just have had an enforced layoff and may need a little time to get up to speed. Priskin hardly seems a threat either sadly.

This football club is SO frustrating...

Why are we not pulling out all the stops to get McCommack here?

He's reportedly joining Leeds... He's going cheap as well!

So no thanks to Adam Le Fondre / Steffen Iverson

ME & SC pull your finger out!

Well I certainly 'forgive'.
When was the last time Rhodes was mentioned as being on the rada of a top team like Wickham has?
Uddersfelt are even trying to buy Alan Lee for 350,000 to supplement their attack.

We sold Rhodes (unforgivable)

Get him. Would be an Ipswich type of player historywise to buy. Will make waves
in years to come!

I don't know anything about this guy, but his record is impressive. However, so was Sam Parkin's.

Didn't a lot of people justify Rhodes' sale when he was scoring lots as "it's only league 1" - and this is league 2.
BUT
Maybe worth a punt if he's cheap, as I'm sure wages wouldn't be an issue.

Guys been scoring for fun. Good age, took his goals very well at the weekend. Think he'd definately be worth a punt.

Just think the media is making waves about this-most clubs will be keeping an eye on a striker who scores 4 in a game and has an impressive record like his. Talked to a few Stockport fans and they say he severely lacks pace and skill but has a great strike at goal from the six yard box. Think McCormack might prove a wiser choice....

He sounds a good player, had a good record at lower league level
