![]() Thursday, 16th Aug 2001 10:10 The campaigners against the new North Stand are in court today to try to get work halted. A number of residents are unhappy at the way planning permission was given for the new stand are want the matter looked into again. Ipswich Borough Council deny that there was anything wrong with the initial decision and the club are backing them up. The hearing is due to take a couple of days. Hermann Hreidarssson scored an own goal last night as Iceland drew 1-1 with Poland in Rekjavik. The only other Town player on display was Amir Karic who played for Slovenia as they drew 2-2 with Rumania. Matt Holland had pulled out of the Ireland squad with knee and ankle injuries but should be OK for Saturday. Town won their behind-closed-doors reserve friendly with Southend 2-0 earlier in the week. Goals from Mark Venus and Matt Bloomfield gave Town the result. Team: Mike Salmon, Fabian Wilnis, Will Snowdon (Darren Ambrose 46), Wayne Brown, Mark Venus, Ashley Nicholls, Tommy Miller (Ian Westlake 66), Nabil Abidallah, Jamie Clapham (Robert Dickinson 66), Steve Barton (Matthew Bloomfield 46). Town's U19s drew 2-2 with Watford in a friendly yesterday. Goals from Robert Dickinson and Matt Robinson. Amongst the subs was new Academy signing Chris Hogg. Former Town star Jason Dozzell may be forced to quit the game with a toe injury. The Ipswich-born player has had a problem since the turn of the year and it has failed to improve despite treatment. He limped off during a pre-season game with QPR this week and if there is no improvement an end to his career could weill be in sight. Dozzell's career started with a bang at the age of 16 when he scored on his debut against Coventry at Portman Road. He remains the youngest player to score in the top division.
