![]() Thursday, 23rd Aug 2001 09:58 David Sheepshanks said yesterday that Town may buy at least some of Sir Alf Ramsey's memorabilia when it goes on sale next month. Medals, caps and other mementoes from Sir Alf's career as a player and manager are currently on display at Christie's. Sheepshanks said the club will look at the items on offer before deciding whether to purchase: "Ipswich Town will ascertain what is being sold with a view to seeing if there are certain items we'd like to secure for our collection of trophies and memorabilia that will soon be on public display as part of our 'Hall of Fame' tour. "Clearly, it would not be right for the club to spend exceptional sums of money, but if there is anything of particular significance and perceived to be good value we will consider it carefully." The entire collection is expected to fetch more than £50,000. Currently 86.1% of fans who have voted in our poll said the club should buy items from the auction.
