Monday Morning Pitch Inspection at Doncaster
Monday Morning Pitch Inspection at Doncaster
Sunday, 26th Dec 2010 16:31

Doncaster Rovers have announced a pitch inspection at 10.30am on Monday 27th December ahead of Tuesday’s game against Town at the Keepmoat Stadium.

According to Doncaster, the match officials have decided to take an early look at the surface. Premier League referee Mark Halsey is due to take control of the game.

Boss Roy Keane told the club site that he will prepare for the game as usual: "We've heard the game is very doubtful but we will train as normal on Monday and see what happens from there."

Rovers chairman John Ryan said last Wednesday that his groundstaff “have it all on” to get the game played with South Yorkshire having failed to escape the freezing conditions.

Doncaster’s fixture at Derby was called off today due to problems with power at Pride Park, while a frozen pitch caused the postponement of the Blues’ home match against Watford.

Its probably off then, been below zero in Doncaster for days. Thought they may have left it to Tuesday morning with slightly milder conditions coming in tomorrow night and during Tuesday. But after todays fiasco, an early decision will be appreiated.

A DAY BEFORE. Getting an EARLY decision for the FANS. Well done Doncaster - you can show the complete idiots at Ipswich a thing or two.

So now we go from a ridiculously late inspection to a ridiculously early one.
9.00 am on Tuesday would be fine.

Brilliant !!! Down in East Anglia for Xmas and not able to see todays (my first and probably only home) game and now heading back home to the North East where I had hoped to catch the Doncaster away game on Tuesday. I guess it was just not meant to be.

Much better, embarrasing to think Doncaster had the idea and we didn't. Let the fans know what is happening.

Oh what a good (sensible) idea. Haveing a pitch inpsection early in the day!

Why oh why didnt ITFC do that yesterday??

If ITFC is such a badly run club, why do all the previous contributors bother following a complete pile of sh**, surely with their combined football, pitch preparation and PR knowledge they could have chosen a more professionally run and successful club

Just for everybody who thinks the clubs themselves do the pitch inspections..... Your Wrong! If you read before you have ago it says Mark Halsey will inspect the pitch, Now correct me if im wrong but i thought he was a referee not a groundsman. It was the referee's decision to have a late pitch inspection for the watford game, not Alan Ferguson's!
But these days you so called fans like to have a moan about absolutly anything ipswich related and immediatly blame the club!

grumpyoldman - I think people are RIGHTLY upset with the debacle yesterday. Cost me a fortune just getting to the game. Thus I think it is entirely right to suggest that Doncaster have prepared and co-ordinated better than ITFC. Unless you can argue otherwise?

danitfc - the point is the CLUB keep the Ref up-to-date with the pitch conditions. Do you honestly think Halsey will just be 'popping to Doncaster' on the off-chance? ITFC should have raised an issue with the pitch sooner. End of ruddy story! Clegg even said on Suffolk they were concerned about it on Christmas Day - so why wasn't the Ref informed sooner? I am not moaning about ITFC - please read all of my previous posts - I have probably been one of the most positive posters. But on this occasion IMO ITFC got it very very wrong.
