They weren't good enough in the premiership end off. We failed miserably whichever way you dress it up. We gambled on Phillips, it backfired and we had to rely on Morsy. No way did he have the legs for that level. And I think Morsy was great for us.
I get the sum of the parts angle that arguably moved us up 2 divisions but many clubs have had huge turnover of players this summer. Its the same for most.
Is this just not Paul Cook all over again but at a higher level. It needed to happen then and maybe it needed to happen now? Time will Tell. I admit I am surprised by the turnover volume I imagine there is a lot more to this than simply players for positions.
It would not surprise or bother me if it takes 2 seasons to go back up as long as we are better placed for it.
Blimey the Brexit disease of divisiveness and entitlement is alive and well on TWTD.
We have had a sticky start to the season and its........ blame, blub blame, blub blame!! Mark Ashtons turn today!!
Ok we got promoted too soon and made a mess of the premier league. We all know why. We are outrageously fortunate financially (more than we have ever been) and we are trying to find our sea legs at the new level.
Football is a brutal business for the players - Its a short career and futures need securing. How would anyone on here feel if they couldn't see past say the next 12 months pay cheques and had no idea what part of Europe they may be working in.
We can now settle with still excellent people at the helm. Onwards and Upwards.
-87 to the OP probably gives the flavour of where most are at.
Why at ITFC don't we just be a little different and support our manager who won two back to back promotions?
I'd wouldn't bother me if he stayed and we actually went up in May 27 which at least would give us longer to improve our International scouting network to premier league standard.
Ben and all the team are excellent and in the main level headed about most things.
There was a POD in the championship promotion season that after a poor run came across a little negative and I alluded to it on a random post on here. Ben then referenced it back on the POD and seemed a little offended when there was no offence meant.
Its simpler than that. He is Chilean. East Anglia means nothing. Bumper pay rise from ITFC. Tick! Helps NCFC by getting a fee they would not get in 12 months. Tick!!
Took out SB membership before 31/07. Watched Aberdeen friendly as part of the deal. My understanding is that membership gets you Town TV Thought I would watch Mckenna presser today. However I've logged in but cant access the videos - seems to want another £5.99 pm I've emailed the club - just wondered if anyone can help ahead if any response from them. I think I have used the same email address for membership and Town TV (seems like a common issue). thanks in advance
Clarke was outstanding for Sunderland in that very position. Now we are back in the championship we really should deploy him there. He was the best player in the championship in that position in 23/24.
Sunderland were always going to recruit well. Their European based trading model has been up and running for 5 years Promotion meant they could move up a level in budget.
Ultimately we recruited with a 3 year plan in mind. We are in year 2.
