Reid Set for Fallon Talks With Jewell
Reid Set for Fallon Talks With Jewell
Friday, 14th Jan 2011 09:17

Plymouth boss Peter Reid says he plans to talk to new Town manager Paul Jewell regarding Rory Fallon’s future. The New Zealander’s Portman Road loan comes to an end on January 22nd.

Prior to the change of Blues manager, the clubs had a provisional deal in place which would see the 28-year-old striker join Town on a permanent basis if he impressed during his loan. However, Roy Keane’s departure has now put that in doubt.

Reid said: "I have tried to get a call in to Paul Jewell and to Ipswich about the Rory Fallon situation. I don't want to comment on it until I have spoken to Paul."

Depending on the outcome of that conversation, the former England midfielder could even recall Fallon early to cover injuries at Home Park.

The lanky frontman has netted one goal in four starts and two sub appearances since joining the Blues at the end of November.

The only problem I can see with Fallon is that some fans object to him being brought in by Keane. Actually I think Keane wasn't that bad a judge of players. I recall his assessment of Priskin differed vastly from many who posted on this board last year. The same goes for a lot of the comments about Delaney at the start of his time here. For that matter I'll be quite interested to see what Jewell makes of Lee Martin.

Fallon may not suit the style that the manager is thinking about, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he kept him. On merit. He's also shown he has the taste for the fight, and the price will be good value for money.

I wouldn't take the call Mr Jewell. Reid (Plymouth)are desperate for some money but we aren't desperate for average strikers and sorry but Fallon is average at best . Plus at 28 he's hasn't done it and form shows he is unlikely to go further.
Soryy but another Keane loan/possible purchase fiasco.!!Just hope Jewell can see us through all these awful Keane signings.

Decent but not any better than what we already have. Another option for PJ to think about.

Come on, he hasn't had a chance to play, due to being cup-tied, since Forest and Coventry - when he scored. At least he shouldn't be discarded before getting an opportunity to impress our new Manager, unless he's truly one-dimensional and doesn't fit Jewell's 'system' (if PJ has even got as far as developing one for this team yet). He at least deserves an extension to his loan (tho it's quite clear that Reid only wants him back to flog elsewhere if he thinks Town aren't buying).

Fallon has seemed lively so far and has a couple of assists under his belt as well as the one goal. He's tall and better with his head than our other strikers (Wickham, for all his talent, is not known for his ability in the air). That's always useful for corners and crosses, not just the long ball game.

If the transfer fee is small and his wages not too high, I say sign him up!

PJ offer Plymouth "two bob and a green apple" or withdraw from the deal.

Cannot believe the comment above that Keane actually signed some good players, yeah right. His transfer market acumen is largely the reason we are languishing in 20th, just what exactly have his signings achieved. Let Fallon and Livermore go back and let Jewell find some quality, because we need some.
