Fry Hopeful Peterborough Can Beat Blues to Green
Fry Hopeful Peterborough Can Beat Blues to Green

Peterborough chairman Barry Fry says he’s hopeful that his club can fend off competition from the Blues and Crystal Palace to sign Dagenham and Redbridge winger Danny Green. The 22-year-old was first linked with Town early last month.

Fry, who is currently away at the Football League AGM in Cyprus, where Town chief executive Simon Clegg is representing the Blues, has already spoken to Daggers boss John Still about Green, who he hopes to recruit in the next few days: "We are aware that people like Ipswich and Crystal Palace are in for the boy as well, but we're very hopeful that might be concluded over this week."

Former Northampton and Nottingham Forest youth player Green dropped into non-league with Bishop’s Stortford before signing for the Daggers in May 2009.

Since then, the 6ft-tall Harlow-born midfielder has scored 27 goals in 93 starts and four sub appearances. Green, who has also been linked with Sheffield Wednesday, is contracted to the Essex side until 2013.

Elsewhere, former Blues loanee Giovani Dos Santos is reportedly a £4 million target of Sevilla. Spurs midfielder Dos Santos spent last season on loan at Racing Santander, recently saying that he would like to return there next season.

Or maybe we will consider ourselves fortunate if we can tempt Brantham's striker away from there to Portman Road ... or would he prefer to sign for Lowestoft Town?

Town are seemingly linked with every player currently drawing breath - yet STILL no hard and fast signing is announced. This is either a serious endictment of the lack of ability of one said CEO, or the local rags are devoid of any real news and are desperate to drum up some kond of false news to sell their grimy rags. I am fast losing the will to live !!!!!

Crazee - you make some good points - and yes Lowestoft Town probably would stand a better chance of signing someone right now.

Dirtydingus - don't know where all the dreamers, and all those in complete denial of our situation, come from - but they are about.
Let's all join them should we ? - on second thoughts no thanks, I would rather remain a realist.

Players are signing for Clubs throughout Football right now (several today) - what do we do ? - just talk, talk, talk, and fail to do likewise - and there is always an excuse for us not doing so. Same old story - but fact remains that we can no longer attract them. Wonder why ........................
