Baxter Leaves Town Communications Post
Baxter Leaves Town Communications Post
Tuesday, 14th Jun 2011 12:06

Town’s director of communications Terry Baxter is stepping down from that role to return to Radio Suffolk as the presenter of their breakfast show. Baxter will continue in his position as chief executive of the club’s Charitable Trust.

The former radio commentator said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Portman Road and I am delighted that through my position with the ITFC Charitable Trust this will continue, albeit on a part-time basis.

“As a local boy, Ipswich is my club and always will be and I am proud to continue the association. However, I feel that this change in my career is right for me and my family and I would like to particularly thank Simon Clegg for his support in enabling this move to happen so smoothly.

“The club deserves to be successful and I feel that with Marcus Evans, Simon Clegg, Paul Jewell, his team and the fantastic club staff, it will only be a matter of time before former glories are restored.”

Chief executive Simon Clegg added: “Terry has provided tremendous support to me during my time at the club.

“He has a wealth of experience, both of the football club and the local community as a whole. The fact that the club is thought of so positively throughout the ranks of local and national media is, in no small part, as a result of Terry and under his guidance, the communication team’s efforts over many years.

“I am delighted that he will continue his connection with ITFC in the future through his valuable role at the ITFC Charitable Trust.”

Baxter previously spent eight years at Radio Suffolk before joining Town in November 2001.

If he were to return to do the commentaries, I will not be listening. The Baxter/Beattie partnership was a disaster

Only had dealings with fella once, came over as pompous and condescending.Dont want him involved in the football again on Radio Suffolk,do hope Brenner hasnt left as put in a good word when he first stood in for Knightsy;but fear he is too good for a provincial radio station.Would like Mark Murphy to be involved though.
