Magilton Joins Shamrock Rovers Wednesday, 6th Jul 2011 10:03 Former Town manager and skipper Jim Magilton has joined League of Ireland side Shamrock Rovers as a temporary assistant to boss Michael O’Neill. The two previously played together for Northern Ireland. O’Neill says Magilton will work alongside him with the Dublin club while he looks for a longer term deputy: “I thought Jim's other commitments in Northern Ireland and the UK would prevent him helping me at this crucial stage of the season. “I was delighted when he said he would assist me until I find the right candidate for the job on a permanent basis. “He brings not only a wealth of knowledge and experience of the game at the highest level, but he is someone I trust implicitly, and that was a key factor in my decision.” Magilton, 42, has been out of work since leaving QPR in December 2009, having been dismissed by Town in the preceding April.
