Sheepshanks Speaks Out Saturday, 13th Oct 2001 11:18 David Sheepshanks has again spoken out over the impending players' strike. Sheepshanks has made his feelings known on several occasions even being involved in a rather heated row with PFA man Gordon Taylor on Sky TV. Sheepshanks feels the matter should be sorted out over the negotiating table as a strike could only harm the game. He also pointed out that there is no dispute between the club and the players and praised the work of the PFA, especially the benevolent work, citing Jason Cundy as an example of a player who had benefited. However, it is the 5% claim that Sheepshanks feels is unacceptable: "What I cannot agree is that the game is responsible for paying 5% of a new TV deal. There has never been any percentage agreement. There is only so much money in the pot, the substantial majority being used to pay the players' themselves."
