Forrest in Cancer Scare

Former Town keeper Craig Forrest has undergone surgery for suspected testicular cancer and is waiting to find out whether the disease has spread to to other areas.

The West Ham keeper, who was on the bench for their reserve game at Portman Road last week, will have a scan but says he very hopeful that he will make a full recovery: "I am confident and optimistic that it will be OK, though it is possible that even if the scan comes up negative, I will still have to have some treatment as a precaution."

Like Jason Cundy before him Forrest found out he had a problem due to the intense medical scrutiny footballers are placed under at their clubs.

Testicular cancer has a high rate of cure. Millwall's Neil Harris had an operation over the summer and is already back playing.
