Manager to Face Sack?
Manager to Face Sack?

Helsingborgs IF boss and John Duncan look-a-like Manne Bergstrand could face the sack should Town beat his side. The Norwegian is less than popular with some sections of his side's support and they were booed off after losing to lowly Norrkoping on Sunday.

Bergstand's side now have no chance of winning the league and supporters have been unimpressed with this season's performances and style of play.

Scotsman Stuart Baxter has been linked with the job should Bergstrand be given the boot. Baxter was erroneously linked with Town last year as a candidate for the job of Scandinavian scout. Eventually the Blues named Simon Hunt as the new man, another Briton with a deep knowledge of the Scandinavian, and especially Swedish game.

Town chairman David Sheepshanks has warned that victory over the Swedes should not be treated as a foregone conclusion: "We will not be taking them lightly at all and you can be assured we will have done our homework. Having said that I'm sure we can compete. I know things have not quite clicked in the Premiership but we are looking forward to it."

George Burley feels that a good performance in Europe could have a positive affect on League form: "We have been performing well without getting results. Winning breeds confidence but we have not been getting the rub of the green lately but I'm sure that will change."

The Swedes, nicknamed the 'Milk Cow' (a Swedish phrase meaning something that's good apparently) arrived in Ipswich yesterday and are likely to welcome back Jesper Jansson to their attack after he recovered from a thigh problem.
