Midfielder Andy Drury has emerged as a surprise target of his former club Luton Town, who currently sit third in the Blue Square Bet Premier. The 28-year-old, who recently returned from a loan spell with League Two leaders Crawley, joined the Blues from the Hatters a year ago for a fee of £150,000, signing a contract until June 2013.

Luton manager Gary Brabin revealed that he has made enquiries: “I know Paul Jewell really well and spoke to Dukes [Drury] as well.

“At the moment Ipswich have called him back because he is back in their thoughts, so I’m sure they won’t want to do anything just yet.”

After Drury returned from his loan spell at Crawley, the Blues turned down a Red Devils bid which manager Paul Jewell said was half the provisional fee the clubs had agreed at the start of the loan.

The midfielder was back in the Town side on Monday, replacing the ill Jimmy Bullard at the last minute, but is unavailable for Saturday's FA Cup tie at Hull having played in the competition with his loan club this season.

In my humble opinion, we have made plenty of worse value signings than this lad. If he wants to stay here and fight for a chance to play then fair enough, he's good enough to do that I think.

On the other hand, if he either not totally committed to the cause, or we able to make a fair profit on our outlay then I am willing to accept him going.
