Town have confirmed that midfielder Lee Bowyer is a doubt ahead of Saturday’s third round FA Cup tie at Hull City with the groin injury he suffered just before half-time during the home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Bowyer’s injury — which manager Paul Jewell said on Monday could sideline the 35-year-old for around a fortnight - leaves the Blues short of central midfield options with Keith Andrews — whose loan from Blackburn is up after Saturday’s match — unlikely to be back from his torn hamstring, although he has been given permission to play by his parent club.

Andy Drury is unavailable having played for loan club Crawley in the competition earlier in the season at a time when it appeared he was unlikely to be required by the Blues with the Blues then also having Colin Healy in their squad.

Jimmy Bullard could start alongside skipper Grant Leadbitter against his old club with the illness which forced him out of Monday’s match not expected to sideline him for too long, while Mark Kennedy or perhaps Luke Hyam could come into the 18.

Striker Jason Scotland may also be back after missing the last two games with a hamstring problem, although having been close to making it for both matches.

Midfielder Jaime Peters is available as he wasn't involved in the FA Cup with his loan club Bournemouth.

eastcoastblue added 15:14 - Jan 4 I cant believe that someone of his experience even carried on hobbling around for 5 minutes after the injury! He should have gone down straight away, bloody stupid. I seriously question the warming up routine and conditioning of our players with the number of injuries we are having all of which are pulls and tears not sustained in contact. Sort it out physios. Do a proper warm up instead of taking pots shots for ten minutes.

Ainsley right back, really? i like the idea of starting Murray and scotland, but with Jet playing just behind them and not on the wing where he always looks lost (although he does drift out when played up top which is odd!)..... we could always try richard wright in CM :-)

ALB Edwards, Sonko, Delaney, Cresswell Hyam/Leadbitter, Bullard Martin, JET, Carson Chopra/Murphy Arguably you could have peters at RB and push Edwards up but as much as I like him im not convinced in Peter's ability - too hit and miss.
