Middlesbrough Renew Scotland Interest
Middlesbrough Renew Scotland Interest
Sunday, 8th Jan 2012 10:24

Tony Mowbray and Middlesbrough have renewed their interest in Town striker Jason Scotland, according to a tabloid report this morning. The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season but has a clause in his deal which if triggered will see the Trinidadian automatically receive another year with the Blues.

Boro previously made an approach for the former Swansea and Wigan man in August along with Blackpool.

Today’s report claims Town won’t play Scotland again due to the clause relating to his extra year, however, TWTD understands that he’s still a few matches away from reaching that milestone which is 19 league starts, having so far made 13 in the Championship plus a further four as sub. Last season, Carlos Edwards triggered a similar clause in his contract.

Given Scotland’s age, he’s 33 next month, the Blues would almost certainly consider any offer which came in with Paul Jewell not necessarily seeing the frontman in his longer term plans. If he moves on, Town would certainly look for a replacement striker during the window.

You're the problem with the club. simples.

we don't need supporters (sorry anti-supporters) who constantly fine fault regardless

You're not a ITFC fan, and you're proving that. Go shouting your mouth off, but there's nothing to back it up.

Support the club, now there's an idea.....

The club better have a bloody good guaranteed proven striker as I would not replace Scotland with any links rumored so far apart perhaps for Sharp. Please don't sign some over thirty 10 goal and under striker, this is getting very worrying.

Last season, SCotland was one of those who I would have shown the door. THis season he has been a revelation and worked hard and been one of our best performers. He made a difference when he came on at Hull yesterday and should be offered a further 12 months. If we let him go while he is one of our better performers I wonder what is going on at PR.

you heard it here. Ipswich Town to appoint Neil Warnock once PJ given the boot tomorrow. This could save our season. I don't particularly like him but he can do the job ..........

Another triumph for calamity Cleggs negotiating skills!

Is there no end to the depths of incompetence in those who run the club?

P1ss or get off the pot...

Longer term plans? Lets sort out the very short term plans eh? Scotland has been one our better players this year, much improved. Maybe the clause gives reason for playing JET?

Who the hell is coming in as a replacement then? We had this with contracts last year - bit of a joke to be honest, and if nothing else, we lose not only players but income as these guys walk for free, thus we get no money to buy other replacement players. OK if Boro come in with £500k I can understand why he'd have to go - but shouldn't we not keep our best scoring optio so that we can avoid relegation?

Hope this is a joke

At the moment he is the best forward we have, to let him go now would be crazy.
As regards to his contract, if he stays,he is bound to play 19 games in total so adding another season to his contract. his agent prob wants 2/3 year contract and he is far too old for that.

Ipswich need two c/halfs and two fullbacks or we are going down

No you don't. Everything you post on here is negative. Every single time.
You never back anything up either, just mindless ranting that's all it is.

Rather than have a pop at individuals on here, or moan about whatever it is you decide to moan about regarding the club, come up with solutions then!

Who would you have as manager (that everyone would go with)? Who would you sign and play (who everyone would go with)? What tactics would you play (that everyone agrees with)?

If you're so wise and wonderful answer those questions. It will be faultless of course!!

Cunning plan going on here methinks. We get to the end of the season probably relegated and let the out of contracts go. then we can rebuild much more cheaply in Div 1. Or we fold and dont pay creditors allowing another club say Crawley to get a nice stadium and fan base with money backing them like the Wimbledon to Milton Keynes story? Being a Town fan does make you go mad in case you wondered!

Yes, he has been our best Striker this season BUT he has only scored 4 league goals so far which is not a good return. He is 33 next month and I wouldn't want to see him here next year so better to get rid and get a fee for him this Jan, get him off the wage bill & geta younger hungrier striker, who's wages are less who can actually head the ball as well as hold it up. Lets be honest Jason Scotland still has been a disappointment - this ain't the same Scotland that scored 25 a season for Swansea - we got the 'has been' unfortunately!
However, if we don't get immeditae successful replacement we could be staring at relegation as he can hold up the ball to bring others into play.

Have we signed a new player called Scotland or is this the same player last season who some fans wanted out? Make your minds up.

My point entirely! Thats the nature of some of the mindless idiots that post on here I'm afraid - they always have to argue the point, not having the brains to realise they argued the complete opposite in the not-so-distant past....

Another situation that goes to prove that Clegg hasn`t a clue how to deal with regular football business.Scotland has worked his socks off this season and has been one of our best players.
