Swindon: We've Had No Bids
Swindon: We've Had No Bids
Monday, 16th Jan 2012 08:54

Swindon chairman Jeremy Wray says his club have not received a bid from Town for Matt Ritchie (pictured) and Paul Caddis. The Blues were understood to have made a move for the winger and the right-back over the weekend, manager Paul Jewell having revealed that Town had made an offer for two players at one club and a third target from another after Saturday’s draw with Blackpool.

However, Wray says his club have not received any offers for any of his squad: “There have been no bids for any of our players.”

With speculation rife regarding Ritchie in particular, the left-footed right winger was also linked with Reading, Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday over the weekend and Town were amongst a host of clubs represented at Swindon’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash at Barnet last Tuesday, manager Paolo Di Canio says he’s determined to hold on to the 22-year-old: “I told him to forget about going somewhere, we want to keep him and bring in other players. We want to win the league and he is one of the main parts of this team.

“He was fantastic at Rotherham and thanks to him. He did his part and he is a fantastic professional and hopefully he can keep going until the end of the season.”

Last week, Swindon made an offer for Town striker Ronan Murray, who they want to sign on a permanent basis after his successful loan at the County Ground. Murray is now back with the Blues with that spell over at the weekend.

Clegg probably sent the bid by carrier pigeon.

Might be explained as semantics around "enquiry" and "bid" i.e. maybe we have "enquiried" about their availability with a view to making a bid and their chairman plays the game by saying "no bids"

InterestIng use of language. 'No bids' rather than 'no enquiries' or 'no offers'. Let's see how this plays out before drawing conclusions. The players have only been gossiped about by the press rather than named so we could be way off.

Intereseting - these players did seem a little too young for PJ.

Jackanory !

people will believe anything they here at Ipswich, there will be a couple more loan signings and that is it, Evans has the purse strings nice and tight, in any case would anyone seriously give Jewell more money, not likely !

I have been informed by an insider at Crewe that two bids have been made by Town for their players. He did not tell me which two though but we shall see...

Phil can you confirm that the fact the bids were made for swindon players was an official Ipswich statement or press speculation.Lets not jump to conclusions as I've been told one of the bids was for Ambrose but we know thats aload of tosh, he's just extended his contract at palace. I think people should hold fire on the jewell bashing till we know the facts.

Please give PJ until February. He's really trying to put things right and his heart is in the right place. He's a capable manager who's made some mistakes. Town need stability and continuity - we needn't become another QPR and sack the boss every time the wind changes.

We could do a Sunderland, rather than a QPR.
