Hyam Signs New Deal
Hyam Signs New Deal
Wednesday, 1st Feb 2012 16:51

Midfielder Luke Hyam has signed his new one-year deal with the Blues, taking him up to the end of June 2013. The 20-year-old, a product of Town Academy, has recently broken back into the first team and along with Andy Drury is keeping senior players such as Jimmy Bullard and Grant Leadbitter out of the side.

Former Northgate High School pupil Hyam told the club site: "I'm delighted to have signed the new deal and now I'm looking to push on with Ipswich.

“It was disappointing to be out of the side earlier in the season, but I've worked hard and forced my way back into the team and I'd like to think I've been rewarded with this new contract.

"The manager has told me to carry on working hard and I'm looking to become a regular in the side now.

"I'm really enjoying my football at the minute and it's great to be playing regularly for Ipswich."

Town are still waiting on Josh Carson to sign his new two-year contract, which includes an option for a third season, while Ronan Murray and Jack Ainsley have recently put pen to paper on new deals.

I love the fact that some people on here actually seem to believe that the management read this site and take notice.

Good news on LH - the boy has a great future (with us!)

What is surprising here is that he could not get a kick for more than a year!! despite myself and many others asking why." but what do fans know" now a couple of games after his return him and Dury, offered to Crawley on the cheap, out play a Top of the league midfield 4 of Noble Nolan Lansbury and Collison. A lesson not to pick players on reputation. Luke can, if he keeps learning and keeps fit be our new Matt Holland . Good Luck Luke, may the force be with YOU.

I presume that the one year contract is just a carrott, and should his progression continue, then an extension will be on the table come June.
As for him being previously dropped after playing so well, not seeing him on a daily basis in training, I can only guess he must have gone off the boil. Power to him for rising to the challenge. Any player that gets their head down and grafts [ and fair play, a few have ] they get my vote. Congratulations Luke, much deserved.

yeah this must be a club policy offering these 1 year deals, think it should have been 2 year deal as this is the future
anyway cant see Carson signing the contract at the moment as he's warming the bench, so why would he sign really, have a chat with him Paul and tell him murphy is only a stop gap etc etc !!!
