Priskin Nets Winner on Alania Debut Monday, 12th Mar 2012 17:29
Former Blue Tamás Priskin netted the winner on his debut for Alania Vladikavkaz as they won 1-0 away against Town's 2001 UEFA Cup foes Torpedo Moscow this afternoon.
The Hungarian international struck in the 25th minute of the first promotion play-off group game as the Russian season got back under way after the winter break.
Priskin's Blues contract was cancelled by mutual consent in January and he joined the second tier side soon afterwards signing a three-year deal.

Hope this doesn't come back to bite us like Demba Ba has come back to bite Watford...

I assume that very few of you have any idea about Russia in general and their football in particular. My (educated) guess is that he is on a decent wage made all the better by the tax rate being a flat 13% actross the board and no tax allowances - a great system that encourages entrepreneurship.

Think a recently departed Town player scoring on his debut for his new club constitutes a story. Not big news, but news all the same.

@Phil, you can't win mate! Yes opinion is divided on him but pretty much in the way of him being a waste of money but I agree with you, news concerning former players is of interest to a lot of us and should be reported, after all it's your site and your work reporting it so don't know why they moan, but they do!! @Michael11, completely agree with you, wasn't he meant to be our next goal machine hence why Keano wasted so much on him and it was all on the basis of him having a half decent season at Watford, but then this was the same manager who chose to offload many players who could still do a job here such as Rhodes, and you could well throw Stead, Garvan and David Wright into that mix as well! Such a great judge of player he was, we were getting the likes of Healy, Fallon, John and Priskin in when he was in charge. I very much doubt he'd have found Cresswell, Drury and Stevenson!

Well done Tamas. I hope you show Jewell what he has missed out on. He never gave you a chance despite your awesome showing against Arsenal.

@simonsays, one game! Keane bought him, realised he was poo then sent him out on loan where he was equally useless. 25 in over 140 games is not a good enough return from a striker, unless you're playing in the Lee Martin role maybe, but then you need to be creative and make goals for your main striker, which he didn't. As I've said, we're all entitled to our opinions, yours is that of he should still be here, fair enough but I disagree with you and believe he's better off elsewhere which doesn't mean I'm right or your wrong, it's just a different view point. If he comes back over here in a few years time and does the business I'll hold my hands up and say I was wrong about his ability.

@philtwtd - It always makes me laugh, when someone goes to this site, reads the headline, clicks on the headline, reads the news they have just chosen, scrolls down and then comments that "I'm not interested in this story" :-)

Well Done Tamas - a very much abused and underrated player if ever this Club had one. Some peoples knowledge of the game is no more than the fact that football involves 'a round thing full of air that is kicked with the foot' - FULL STOP. Thes people would never, ever, be able to identify a good player in a million years - FULL STOP.
buryblue77 added 21:03 - Mar 13
@ h32, essentially that 'round thing full of air that is kicked with the foot' is quite important to the game (positional sense and movement off the ball is also vital) and without it you may as well have 22 men standing out there doing nothing, which kind of reminds me of a certain player....................

Didn't Keane sign Drury?
