Leeds Linked With Chambers

Leeds United are interested in Town target Luke Chambers, according to reports in Yorkshire. The Nottingham Forest centre-half, whose contract at the City Ground expired at midnight last night, has been tipped for a Bosman free move to Portman Road this week.

Despite adding January Town target Jason Pearce from Portsmouth early in the close season, the Whites are short on central defenders with former Blue Alex Bruce having been released and ex-Town loanee Darren O’Dea leaving at the end of the season.

A takeover is close to completion at Elland Road which would give manager Neil Warnock the funds to further add to his squad.

We understand Chambers is one of Paul Jewell’s top targets this summer with reports from the Midlands late last week claiming the 26-year-old former Northampton man could sign on the dotted line as soon as Tuesday, in time for the start of pre-season training on Thursday.

alfromcol added 17:57 - Jul 1 RetroBlue Presumably you know that these players have agents. It doesn't require the EADT to advertise potential targets, the agents will do this long before the EADT knows anything about the interest of IT.

This has been discussed at length on the forum.

..And yes I am fully aware of the use of agents, scouts, scouting systems , the increasing use of twitter by players and their agents and of the media's ability and regular use of speculation to sell their local rags.

The local rags to Ipswich demonstrate little support toward the Club IMO and often appears to be negative in their outlook toward anything ITFC.

I propose outlining a petition making it illegal for the city of Leeds to ever have a professional football club ever again. I really hate Leeds.

On the face of it If Leeds really want him, are prepared to pay the wages he wants, and want to take the gamble of setting up a new untried defensive unit, we have no chance. If he can stay in his current location and not lose out financially I can't see what we can do. That said, I don't believe that the criteria above are necessarily absolute; he has a real chance to make a real name for himself with us and hopefully he will opt for a challenge with us as opposed to choosing to stay in the comfort zone with Leeds.

Any decent player will be linked with other clubs so no surprises when the usual suspects are mentioned as interested parties other than Ipswich.

Now its a case of PJ and Clegg to show why the fans should have confidence in you and why we can believe you can attract decent players to ITFC?

Chambers looks like exactly the kind of player we should be courting and then signing.Fingers crossed.

Not really correct, when players are available on a Bosman, and are in demand, they generally command a signing on fee, so instead of paying the club they exit, you pay a fee to the player to sign for you..... a cut of this goes to the agent, the rest to the player........

hijacked again it seems.. same old story.. get our finger out and get our club back were its belongs...clubs in so called trouble are getting players we are supposed to be connected with, what the hell is going on.were a joke at the moment there has been long term damage done to our club and we are been left behind . ive seen it all now.were doomed if we dont put our club in the picture...

mrmorisato added 02:07 - Jul 2 A friend of mine who's a forest fan said although he was player of the season in 2010/11 he didn't think that highly of him but thought he could do a job for town....not sure he's worth £1M though! I am more excited about the Davies link than with Chambers at the mo.
