Jewell Made Move for Loan Striker
Thursday, 27th Sep 2012 15:54

Town boss Paul Jewell has revealed that he tried to bring in a loan striker — believed to be QPR’s DJ Campbell - this week as cover for the injured Paul Taylor and Michael Chopra. Taylor is facing at least six weeks out with a cracked foot, while Chopra has a strained thigh.

Jewell said: “We made an enquiry for a striker this week but the player concerned looks as though he is going back to a club where he has played before.

“We haven’t given up hope of getting someone in before the weekend. If we do great, if not then we will just get on with it.”

Having been a youth player with QPR and Aston Villa, much-travelled Campbell, 30, began his senior career in non-league with the likes of Chesham, Stevenage Borough, Billericay Town and Yeading before moving into the Football League with Brentford and then the Premier League with Birmingham.

Since then, the Londoner has represented Leicester, Derby and Blackpool (twice on loan, once permanently), before returning to QPR again last summer for a fee of £1.2 million. Having rarely been involved with Rangers, the former England C international has been tipped for a fourth spell with the Seasiders.

Chopra could be back in contention for Tuesday’s game at Brighton and Hove Albion.

What did happen to Church did he go else where that link kind of petered out into nothingness. I'm gonna get marked down for this but Right now with the injuries we have paying for Wickham till january would be a shrewed move on Evans part and we could have a loan signing that gave a monkies about the club.

tried and failed again !.cant sign full time ,cant sign loans.Bottom of league, and confidence in a manager who hasnt a clue, Evans and Clegg, the dynamic duo.Still they try and convince the dwindling number on the terraces that they have ambition . WHAT A BLOODY JOKE .
