Jewell Made Move for Loan Striker
Thursday, 27th Sep 2012 15:54

Town boss Paul Jewell has revealed that he tried to bring in a loan striker — believed to be QPR’s DJ Campbell - this week as cover for the injured Paul Taylor and Michael Chopra. Taylor is facing at least six weeks out with a cracked foot, while Chopra has a strained thigh.

Jewell said: “We made an enquiry for a striker this week but the player concerned looks as though he is going back to a club where he has played before.

“We haven’t given up hope of getting someone in before the weekend. If we do great, if not then we will just get on with it.”

Having been a youth player with QPR and Aston Villa, much-travelled Campbell, 30, began his senior career in non-league with the likes of Chesham, Stevenage Borough, Billericay Town and Yeading before moving into the Football League with Brentford and then the Premier League with Birmingham.

Since then, the Londoner has represented Leicester, Derby and Blackpool (twice on loan, once permanently), before returning to QPR again last summer for a fee of £1.2 million. Having rarely been involved with Rangers, the former England C international has been tipped for a fourth spell with the Seasiders.

Chopra could be back in contention for Tuesday’s game at Brighton and Hove Albion.

...... could be's, would be's, maybe's, never will be's - sums the Club up well with this trio running it.

To expect more, is well over the limits - and it's all well past the joke now.

Was worth a punt as he's half decent, but all these loans....de ja vu on last season and it was hardly sucessful then!

We have plenty of cover going forward, why bring in someone else? Give those we already have a chance, they can't do any worse in front of goal.

What a shambles. So every time we get an injured player we are going to have to use the loan market. LOL

Why do this story TWTD, just gets fans backs up and doesn't serve a purpose except to show what a baboon Jewell is.

We need people behi d the team.

Also I would really really REALLY like it if we got rid of My way as our entrance tune at PR. I hate that song with a passion and if anyone thinks it gets the players going before kick off the they are plain stupid.

PLEASE PEASE WE NEED A ROCKET UP OUR BACKSIDES AS WE RUN ONTO THE PITCH NOT THA PIECE OF DEPRESSING CRAP. I know it was SBR fave, but it s not serving as inspiration, we need something upbeat. PLEASE CHANGE IT

Seems like you get a negative post for absolutely nothing these day's?

You get a down vote for "Jewell Out" post's

You get a down vote for "Jewell In" post's

Down votes for backing the idea of playing the youngsters

Down votes for liking the idea of adding experience to the backline

Down votes for suggesting a new manager

Down votes for not suggesting a new manager

Make your minds up :)

same old same old how long is this going to go on for, a decent manager would have a strong squad by the beginning of the campaign, another rejection to a complete shambles of a set up :(
