Reo-Coker Deal Done - Report Saturday, 13th Oct 2012 17:57 Town are reported to have signed former Bolton midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker. The 28-year-old is a free agent, having left the Trotters at the end of last season.
Reo-Coker was understood to have held talks with the Blues last summer prior to signing for Bolton and was linked again during this close season. While we understand there is definite interest on Town’s part, the club are yet to confirm that a deal has been completed.
Recently he has been training with Charlton and had also been linked with Crystal Palace.
Born in Thornton Heath, Reo-Coker started his career with the old Wimbledon, making his senior debut in the 2002/03 season. His displays for the Dons impressed West Ham who signed him for £500,000 in January 2004.
After three and a half not always happy years at Upton Park, during which time he captained the side under Alan Pardew, the former England U21 skipper joined Aston Villa for £8.5 million in July 2007 having asked for a transfer.
He left Villa when his contract expired last summer and moved on to Bolton, where he made 42 starts and scored three goals as they dropped out of the Premier League. In May he activated a relegation clause in his contract and left the Reebok Stadium.
Capped 23 times at U21 level, scoring once, Reo-Coker rejected the international advances of Sierra Leone, the country of his doctor father’s birth and where he lived for six years as a child.

Yawn Yawn. Yes was a decent player but as so many "starlets" has lost his way while believing his own hype. He has a lot to prove to what ever club he goes to but I would not be unhappy if he turned up at Portman Road. I would be worried this could be another Jimmy Bullard story and feel that is not what the club or us fans need at the moment. I would like someone to come into the club and grab us fans by the scruff of the neck and take us on a ride, the likes of which we have not seen at our club for sometime now. Someone who has something different and the ability to make me get to my feet everytime he gets the ball. If Reo-Coker does join us I wish him all the best with his football. I also would like him to prove my worries wrong. COYB.

I fear trublu this will be another Bullard signing if correct. A known dressing room troublemaker is not what is required at the moment and he is not a free agent for nothing!! Time will tell, I hope I'm wrong, but if he pulls on an Ipswich shirt I'll be right behind him until he proves otherwise!

Wow trueblue and algarvefan. This story doesn't even have the faintest whiff of Bullard. And by the way could either of you be any more two faced. "oh look at me, what an awful signing, oh jewell out, but if it works... YAY!!! COYB!!!" Idiots

Its not two faced showing your concern for your club. If anything im being honest about what i think and what has happened in his career. I have said i will want him to prove me wrong also!!!! How is that two faced????
