Jewell to Speak to Evans In Morning
Wednesday, 24th Oct 2012 00:43

Town boss Paul Jewell says he will speak to club owner Marcus Evans in the morning, as he does after every game. The Liverpudlian, who missed his post-match press conference, confirmed that he is still the Blues’ manager despite earlier reports claiming that he had resigned.

Jewell told the club site: “I’m Ipswich Town manager at the moment and I will be in the morning.

"I’ll be at the training ground tomorrow and will speak to Marcus then, as I do after every game.”

Regarding the 2-1 defeat to his former club Derby County, he said: “We started brightly enough and were the better team in the first-half but we conceded another bad goal just before half-time.

“One mistake led to another and you could see the confidence drain out of the players. We didn’t really threaten in the second half and then to concede right at the end again for the second game in succession was a real kick in the teeth.

“That’s 15 points we have let go now this season from winning positions, but I can’t keep saying the same things.

“It’s really difficult to pick yourself up and go again but that’s what you have to do as a professional. There’s another game Saturday and everyone has to focus on that and getting the club out of the run we are on.”

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Jewell's assistant Chris Hutchings - who will be at Wednesday evening's Supporters Club AGM along with chief executive Simon Clegg and skipper Carlos Edwards - revealed owner Evans is currently in Barbados.

I have been and still am pro Jewell but I am beginning to feel let down by everyone in power at the club. Jewell needs to sort the league position out FAST I like the way Jewell trys to get the team playing but its no good without results.

Can't see harry taking over not sure if we can afford the back handers needed, my choice would be Owen coyle

Mr Evans, in the next few days you must make crucial decisions that will shape our clubs future for many years to come, please get them right!!!

Clue :- decision no.1 - sack Jewell.

The only person to blame for our current plight is Paul Jewell. Not Marcus Evans or Simon Clegg. Paul Jewell.

He picks the side and tells the side how to play and the tactics that are to be used. Evans doesnt nor does Clegg!

As far as I am concerned Jewell lost the dressing room some time ago and obviously does not having any respect from the players. He has used the loan system to try and achieve a short term fix to save his neck and it has failed miserably.

Is Henderson any better than Loach - NO
Higginbotham is better than Smith IMHO!
Are Wellens, Reo-Coker, N'Daw any better than Hyam, Carson, Martin, Drury, JET - NO
I actually like young Loungo and would love him to stay
Is Murphy any better than Scotland or Chopra - probably not
DJ Campbell has something about him I like

The loan players Jewell has bought in has surely completely alienated the young players we so desperately want to succeed here

Marcus Evans is the owner and paymaster. The Club is losing enormous amounts of money each week and without him - despite those calling for him to go - we would be in a worse position than Portsmouth probably

Simon Clegg is only doing his job. The day to day running of the club on behalf of his boss - Marcus Evans

Will wait with baited breath for the announcementon the radio today that he has gone and maybe just maybe we can get things going and move up the table.

We are not doomed for Division One yet - too early and 4 points can be pulled back but the rot must be stopped now before the gap is too big and sadly the club starts to fall into oblivion. Because if we go down we will stay down for a long while because the club would not be able to survive with the huge debt they have and with gates of 10k each week in Div 1

Right lets put the radio on!!!!

When he was appopinted I thought he might do a good job for us. I was wrong! His time was up months ago. We haven't been this low since the 1950's!

Will be gone this morning in an agreed termination of his contract announcement. New manager in place for Saturday. This was going to happen even before last night's result.
Clegg, who I'm afraid will remain, hardly disguised the club's lack of support for the manager in his programme notes.

This situation shows just what a mess ITFC has become . We have the captain [EDWARDS] saying one week ''we are playing to keep Jewell in job'' . Now saying several of team are not trying , some players want Jewell out .The manager [JEWELL ]asking himself if he is the right man to get things right, ,one day then saying he has the backing of EVANS and CLEGG so will carry on .If Jewell really thought it was ITFC that mattered he should have resigned on his self doubt and failings .He stays in his job and we lose another game sinking Town into the one remaining position in Championship !.What has happened to ''THE PRIDE OF EAST ANGLIA ''.It makes me wonder if Evans is genuinely interested in progress , has he decided he will move on to other things and dosnt want to pay Jewell off.We have a team of loan players are bottom of league, with a failed manager. Is Evans about to scuttle the ship ? Since he took over with ''grand ambition'' Town of gone deeper into the mire. We are now staring into the Abyss, .

Paul Jewell is a nice decent bloke. So when does a decent bloke hide in his office and wont come out and face the press to explain the crap he is in charge of. What went on post match last night is dragging the name of Ipswich Town down. Im now of the opion that Jewell is a deluded coward. Deluded because he thinks he's up to the task. A coward because he wouldnt face the press to explain yet another inept display.

jewell didn't go to the post match interview because as a man of honour he wants evans to be the first to know his decision. jewell's departure will prove a proper test for evans and clegg and if they knew what they were doing then the next man will already be lined up and will be at portman road on saturday

So Evans was at judges house with the next contestant. It's like a tv show this.

But its not Mr Evans, this is our club who we have supported all our lives and is in our blood.

Time for action and to actually become one of us and so has the next manager. Under sir Bobby, lyall, big Joe, George and magic they connected with us the fans. We need that again.

If not, Saturday will not be a pleasant afternoon.

Jewellio would not talk to the Media last night,, but he did find time to talk to Ipswich Player !! easy way out ??? and he did not seem to upset !! then he probably went back to his DVD (James Bond was it ? Sky Fall ) more like Team Fall,, and left all us Fans wondering what the Hell was going on with our club,, with Marcus Evans tanning himself in Barbados ? what a joke No crisis there Hey ???
Jewellio will ring him this morning and he will probably say you carry on Paul Mate !!!!
He will know what a crisis is when the crowds dwindle down to just ST holders ,, and next year is unthinkable ???????

Thank you for your efforts Mr Jewell, good luck in whatever you do next, but it is time for you to leave. You now have had a fair crack at the job and for whatever reasons its not working.
Think you have been let down by several of your players but ultimately this is now your team, and they are hugely under-achieving.

Potentially three managers have come and gone without any success. You have to think that the demise of this once great club lies much deeper than the management and first team. At this rate we can all look forward to a nice local Derby with Colchester next year.

Good post Marcus - pretty much how I felt at every management appointment. For me, no more old skool managers. Owen Coyle plays a good brand of football is young and hungry - lets go for him (although I'm not sure he would come to us which sums up the state of our club at the moment).

It is imperative I feel, that Paul leaves today, I respect him and feel sad that it hasn't worked for him, I'm sure he did his best as he saw it, there is no need for him to feel shame or embarrassment, it happens all the time in Football, I do however feel that those players let him and us all down badly last night, some of them especially were a disgrace and should be ashamed of their dreadful performance in the second half particularly, they did nothing to help their boss, they should be ashamed of themselves, good luck for the future Paul.

was at the match last night , and have followed events on and off the pitch closely for many years. One thing that is absolutely key in any football club is team spirit. The team being not just the match day squad but also the clubs staff , local media and supporters. Never was it more obvious than last night that the club are so far from galvanised its unbelievable. The first 11 look both lacking in ideas and confidence. Unable to follow instructions given by a manager who is at his lowest ebb in terms of his own belief in himself. In 90 plus minutes of football PJ was in his technical area twice. Very simply he is shot of all confidence , he is hiding . It is miserable for him. Back to the team itself , for 15 mins we were ok , apart from that we made a young fresh and hungry Derby side look far better that they are. All over the pitch there was no belief ,no cohesion and players like Cresswell , Martin were simply not at the races. Its plain to see Cresswell is the target for opposition ,so many times players are two V one on him , ie get behind him and cross. I do not really wish to pick on individuals , but there is no choice in that position to rest him due to the failings of transfer dealings. Substitions from both Derby and Hull by Bruce and Clough brought about players that scored winners , we bring on Chopra and Scotland , they did not care , they really did not have any positive influence on the match at all. Thats there fault not the manager.
What is the managers fault is the signing of a mass of loan players that sends a message to the rest of the team that they are not good enough to win football matches. So hardly a shock moral is so low.
So , the problems are enormous , the manager has been the cause of his own down fall. If i worked in Marcus Evans business running for example a sales team , that was under performing , and i stood up and said at a conference that im not sure im up to the job , i need to have a think , soul search , and ask myself if im capable of running my division anymore , i would bet my bottom dollar Marcus Evans would sack me , without question.
Fans, local media , staff , directors , manager , players are not galvanised ,there is no obvious passion as so much is wrong. The buck does not just stop with the manager but with all units of a club . However the manager must do his part very well , to lead ,inspire , motivate ,unite. Sadly that is behond him. The club is to big for PJ. Hes the rabbit in the headlights. We need leaders ,and he does not lead. So for him it should be over . The replacement must be a leader of all aspects. Objective number one to inspire and motivate , to galvanise the club as a whole. Including very importantly us the supporters. For it is us the players should feel they play for.

If we go down then Evans has to shoulder the blame for not making the decision to axe jewell sooner. The loyalty to him last season was admirable but he should have gone at the end of last season. This has dragged on far too long and it's embarrassing now. Billy Davies for me. These players need More discipline which he will bring. We also need someone to explain how the game works to Clegg.
