Jewell to Speak to Evans In Morning
Wednesday, 24th Oct 2012 00:43

Town boss Paul Jewell says he will speak to club owner Marcus Evans in the morning, as he does after every game. The Liverpudlian, who missed his post-match press conference, confirmed that he is still the Blues’ manager despite earlier reports claiming that he had resigned.

Jewell told the club site: “I’m Ipswich Town manager at the moment and I will be in the morning.

"I’ll be at the training ground tomorrow and will speak to Marcus then, as I do after every game.”

Regarding the 2-1 defeat to his former club Derby County, he said: “We started brightly enough and were the better team in the first-half but we conceded another bad goal just before half-time.

“One mistake led to another and you could see the confidence drain out of the players. We didn’t really threaten in the second half and then to concede right at the end again for the second game in succession was a real kick in the teeth.

“That’s 15 points we have let go now this season from winning positions, but I can’t keep saying the same things.

“It’s really difficult to pick yourself up and go again but that’s what you have to do as a professional. There’s another game Saturday and everyone has to focus on that and getting the club out of the run we are on.”

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Jewell's assistant Chris Hutchings - who will be at Wednesday evening's Supporters Club AGM along with chief executive Simon Clegg and skipper Carlos Edwards - revealed owner Evans is currently in Barbados.

WHAT A COMPLETE SHAMBLES!
How can that man still be our manager after hiding away last night and questioning himself last Saturday?
He has clearly lost the plot! Mind you saying that im begining to question the sanity of Clegg and Evans too!!

Jewels position has become impossible to remain in role now in my opinion.

Having said that such a gutless and spineless result he has been badly let down by the players he has given jobs to and so have we. If I could sack some of the players as well they would be my first cull!

Just a thought. Maybe jewell knows he is to go this week and evans has said stay until I have a replacement and he will get a pay off. Seems reasonable as they appear close.

The view this is not Clegg's fault is rubbish, I said it early on. He was charged with sorting contracts and signing the players our Managers have wanted. He fails to get the top targets and signs the dross. No wonder we are where we are.

If he could see that Austin and Boyd where worthy of Bullard's level wage then we would have two quality players.

First thought of the day, we loan in a GK who has done nothing but drop the ball and we bench our new permanent GK because of his performance against Cardiff. Wrong!
Game after game we drop points from a winning possition. Wrong!
Three games in a row we lose in time added on. Wrong!
We are now bottom at least two results from getting out of the red zone. Wrong!
We have a large number of loanees. Wrong!
We have yet to tie up our decent player for next season. Wrong!
We charge so much for tickets. Wrong!

I feel bad for the manager who takes on the mess the club has been left in providing ME stops treating us as a marketable asset and starts treating it as our "family football club".

I dont want to drive to Yeovil and Doncaster next year.

Should he go and surely he must? there is talk of Chris Hutchings taking over as caretaker, surely that is not the answer, Chris will have some of his own thoughts and ideas but i feell it will be just Chris in PJ,s jacket in disguise, we need a complete new line of thinking, a new approach, and as for the players last nite, did they look like they cared, was there any fire or passion in the performance not one bit!
Rotten to the core the lot of them, did they give a second thought as they climbed into thier range rovers and Astons last night, nope i wager not!

I think are only hope is for a big name manager come january we won't have half the squad and who is going to want to come down here to play for jewell who doubts himself and the club being in same position. Hopefully a big name manager might attract people.
All I've heard this last couple of weeks "we're to big of a club to go down" in football thats rubbish
Leeds, west ham, Blackburn, Bolton, both Sheffield clubs Southampton pompy in prem and even the team up the road... It happens in football saying it won't do nothing so ACT NOW or ipswich town will be on that list.
Jewell sorry who you kidding anymore? This maybe your last job but atleast you can say you tried and realised football has moved on from the nice guy days.

We must be the softest club in this league.
You wait and see, that clown will still be manager on Saturday.
Rotten to the core, all of them!
RIP ITFC.

Jewell has all the signs of someone who has taken his car to bits and then forgot how it all goes back together again.

Drury put in as the supporting midfielder didn't work. Martin wide left, in a position where he has never had a good game for the club. Campbell up front all alone when it was plain to see he needed some support and then gets taken off. Reo-Coker looking so far off being match fit you wonder whether he will ever be.

The only bright spot was the way Edwards and et combined early on. Until that is Cloughie found a way of keeping Edwards penned back, then JET disappears.

Don't even get me started on the substitutions.

Derby were a less than average team, yet they dominated the second half. I can see no glimmer of hope that Jewell can pull this round, surely ME and Clegg don't believe he can?

Time to go Paul, bye!

Bergholtblue my thoughts exactly we need players who want to play for this club not using it for fitness In doubt anyone at the game would not mind if the young Ipswich players had lost at least you would get effort Im sorry to all you Jet fans and Chopra fans but they are not real Ipswich players they do not give there all.
Bring back Loach as Henderson is no better than, Higginbottom was awful so Smith no worse , midfield was nowhere Hyam and Drury or Loungo would be better than the 2 who dont really want to be here other than fitness.
DJ Campbell has no intention of staying so play the man who took a wage cut to play for us Scotland.
Jet was in and out of the game Carson gives his all when given the chance and as for Martin he must be one of the players who wants Jewell out as he gave nothing although he is being played out of position.
Cresswell is a shadow of last season.
They players seem to have lost heart so Im afraid Jewell has to go

Why did Jewell take DJ off last night when he is clearly our only goal threat. Chopra & Scotland came on and lumbered around but never looked a threat.

Decisions like that completely sums this mess up.

"Clearly, I'm bitterly disappointed," Jewell said. "I think any manager near the bottom of any league of any country is going to be under pressure given the club's current position.

"But I have to say I didn't see this coming. Of course I'm aware we're bottom of the league, but we're all grown men here.

"I was preparing for tomorrow's home game with Tranmere and working on bringing in a loan player from Southampton (Trond Egil Soltvedt).

sound familiar??!! this was from 2001 (sheff wed.) i like the bloke but he has to go now. the whole club is upside down it seems and i don't know what it's gonna take to turn things around. bring back bobby (RIP legend x) . 'arry? maybe mourinho?

FloridaBoy , how does Clegg not share the blame. He is the owners CEO and as such should be running day to day business , he obviously is not.He does not even live in Ipswich or the area .He is part of the problem. We need to remove Clegg and Jewell.Lets have an Ipswich man who will stand up to Marcus Evans and support the manager .Clegg has also implemented FFP too soon at the detriment of proper signings during the summer for a load of loanees cum mercenaries . He has not helped Jewell or Evans with guidance on this . We need a CEO who can help the football team , Mills , Burley , Royle , or a CEO from business that can adapt to football fast !!

Let's face it....the club is rotten to the core at the moment

ME is in Barbados (Wish I was there)
Clegg is nowhere to be seen or heard.
We have the most expensive tickets in the division
Can't sign the players PJ wanted (EG Charlie Austin 18 Goals) due to not been able to offer the wages
Clegg took three weeks off for the Olympics before the start of the season during key transfer market time
No youth players breaking through (or being allowed to)
EIGHT loan players panic signed due to line 4 above
Manager has lost the dressing room & tactically inept

Sacked in the morning...I don't think so...

Rotten...I can smell it from here..

Why are many posts directed at Simon Clegg. The football is not his responsibility, he is a business manager only. Listen to Mick Mills on BBC Radio Suffolk. Responsibility rests with the players, overpaid and over rated. They are men not naughty boys.

Yet again I look online and no news about Jewell getting sacked or resigning. I just cant believe the way the club is being run. But its Clegg who needs to go to, he must be blamed too, he is just a joke, he cares more about the re-painting of turnstiles than having supporters in the stadium. I agree this is a bit like Mike Bassett England manager...
