Youga Out to Win Extended Deal Tuesday, 13th Nov 2012 16:57
New signing Kelly Youga says he is out to win an extended contract with the Blues. The 27-year-old former Charlton and Yeovil full-back put pen to paper on a short-term deal earlier today.
Youga told the club site that he is familiar with both the club and several of his new team-mates: “I have played against Ipswich many times and it’s a good club.
“I had the opportunity to come here on trial and now I’m here for two months. It’s a great chance for me and if I can stay longer than January, then I’d stay with pleasure.
“I know some of the players here already. Lee Martin was at Charlton when I was there and I know Bilel [Mohsni] and Guirane [N’Daw], from France. The French connection!
“I’m looking forward to my time here. I could have joined some clubs back home in France, clubs in the top division but I like England. This is where I want to play my football.”
I hope this doesnt mean Moshni doesnt get a chance at centre back, the few minutes he came on saturday he looked a star trying to take on the pretty much the whole burnley midfield!!
I love the boy already, plus he looks like a proper porn star!!! Really hope he gets a chance.
He looks strong in the tackle (I'm not referring to Talbs77 comment) albeit a bit lunge happy. Love the clip where he dives in two footed on one of his own players. He looks tough to get off the ball and happy in possession when time allows and also equally keen to get rid if needs must. If the least he does is put pressure on Cresswell to perform then all good.
On the evidence so far I see no reason to doubt Mick's judgement.
Infineteregrass; you are quite right and I am mistaken. He is as you say a short term signing rather than a loan.
However, I don't think that changes my basic point which is that signing hordes of players on loans/short term deals is no way to develop the club on a long term basis. Whilst one or two might be appropriate we seem to have lots of them at the moment. It is a matter of concern that we have all these players coming in and our youths either seem to be going nowhere (e.g. Hyam) or not being given a chance at all. I accept that our situation is difficult and one doesn't want to be chucking youth in indiscriminately, but surely they ought to be at least challenging for a place without bringing in reserve players who have hardly played in three years?
Watch the clip and he seems like he take no prisoners with his tackles and i think he will pick up quite a few bookings . He looks a good hard solid player and he puts himself about a bit and gets involved in the game. If Mick like him i like him because i have so much faith in the silver fox. Welcome to the club Kelly.
I think he looks kamakaze and quite a character! As already mentioned, check out the two footer on his own player haha!
The interview on player today is good, love the french arogance/confidence, the guy hasn't played for a while through injury, Steve Pearce asks him how long till he will be fit, the reply, 'I am naturally fit, one game one week and i will be fit' love it!
Really hope it works out for you kelly! Looking forward to seeing some crunching tackles, looks like our defence is starting to take shape and potentially be quite formidable!
Short term contract is because he's damaged goods under repair - it'll take him 3 months to get match fit anyway, so the 2 months is like a bench test period.
