Town Confirm Orr Loan
Wednesday, 14th Nov 2012 09:58

Town have confirmed that Blackburn right-back Bradley Orr has joined on loan until January 26th. News of the 30-year-old's move to the Blues broke last night.

Orr has been left on the bench since Henning Berg took over as manager at Ewood Park.

He started his career with Newcastle, during which time he was linked with the Blues, spending a period on loan at Burnley while with the Magpies. In 2004 the 6ft-tall full-back joined Bristol City and he was to spend the next six years at Ashton Gate.

In July 2010 he moved on to QPR where he helped Neil Warnock’s side to the Championship title. Having featured only fleetingly after their promotion to the Premier League, the Liverpudlian joined Blackburn in January 2012.

Orr will be best remember by Town fans for being sent off in the Blues’ 6-0 victory over Bristol City in November 2007.

A move for a right-back is no surprise with Blues manager Mick McCarthy having said he prefers to see skipper Carlos Edwards in midfield.

Gives our defence a much needed structure, really on board with this signing.

Looking forward to watch Edwards playing Right Wing as well, if the last match is anything to go by could be a superb tactical move by MM.

Chambers back to the middle then? Shame for Smith, yet again played well as right sided CB, would feel hard done by if it happens, much like Hyam

C'orr! An Orr-some signing. Will finally have some Orr-ganisation at the back now under Mick. I am in Orr of the great man already. I like this signing. I may even have an Orr-gasm.

This can only help to Orrganise the defence even further.

Still smiling at the "A Loan Again Orr" headline - Phil, I salute your genius. Never thought I'd see one of my favourite songs as a headline on TWTD.

Next challenge: "Moonchild" by The Neff!!!

Most important thing is not to put Chambers back in the middle. Any combination of Chambers and anyone else in the centre = we ship a shedload of goals. Sadly he is the problem, mainly because he's the slowest player in our already slow team.

Welcome Bradley. Well done MM on a very shrewd signing. Have a feeling that good times are on there way. Feel confident for saturday.

Things seem so much brighter since MM and TC have come in. Some good loan signings with the focus on sorting out our leaky defence and playing people in the right flippin' positions. Onwards and upwards our beloved Ipswich Town. Leicester away is a tough game tho!

Great stuff, it's taken McCarthy 2 weeks to notice Jewells 2 year problem! Orr is not a bad player neither so hopefully our whole back 4 can play in their specialist position for once.

Something both Keane and PJ were unable to find in all their time here (although to be fair to PJ he did get Hewitt in for this role when fit). Well done MM. I am impressed in your progress so far in a short period.

Wow, the signings are coming thick & fast at the minute! Great to finally see a recognised right back come into the club.

The back four is starting to look quite solid on paper now and I always think the best managers build from the back, keep up the good work MM.

bringbackthedutch... dont agree on the Chambers point at all .Chambers is a very capable centre back and was man of the match against Birmingham ,the issue has been he was covering constantly for a right back always out of position in Edwards .
MM has clearly seen this by moving Edwards and now bringing in a right back to allow Chambers back into the centre .
Palace game aside our goals conceded over and over again were crosses coming in from the left or right to easily and players scoring at the back post ,nothing to do with centre back issues .Charlton,Cardiff,Hull,Derby etc

Orr is a very good player at this level with plenty of experience so very happy with this.

Ok it's another loan but we have to do what is necessary in the short term to shore-up the defence in January and then Mick can look for long term solutions. Already I'm very impressed with how quickly Mick has identified and addressed the problems in this squad, things which have been painfully obvious to the fans for so long.
